Well I did it.
I bought my 1st Vette. A 2 owner 96 polo green LT4 with tan leather.
The guy I pruchased it from owned it for the last 6 years and only put 4k miles on it. He is an older gentleman that had knee surgery last year and wanted an auto, so he sold the LT4 and bought a C5 auto.
I don't plan on doing anything to the car but driving it and showing it. I have an 02 Dodge 3500 6spd diesel with 400hp and 780tq, so if I need to be thrown back into my seat I'll drive the truck, but I have always wanted a vette and the LT4 ever since they came out.

Maybe, but if it's a two part race where the vette and the diesel race a quarter mile on the 1st leg and on the second leg we hook a fifth wheel up to each of them for a 50 mile mountain climb I'm betting the diesel does better over all. The diesel will come closer to beating the vette in a quarter mile than the vette will pulling the fifth wheel. Just an interesting thought. Congrats to the OP on his vette and his diesel. I also have one of each and I love them both.

Welcome to the Forum Doug and congratulations on a car that sounds like a sweet little vette. Pictures are a must so post some when you get a chance.

great first vette
How can you even say that truck will throw you back in the seat more than your vette???
Have you driven your vette yet???
I have a 95 LT1 auto and it will blow away your truck,I know your LT4 will take it
comparing it pulling a trailer is like comparing your truck in the water against a boat.

Congratulations and Welcome
Congratulations Doug. This Corvette will provide you with many happy driving experiences and memories just as the C4's have done for the rest of us. Enjoy it for awhile and become familiar with its driving characteristics before considering any mods. The factory engineers did a great job in compromising performance, reliability, and drivability. I love my stock '87 but can understand the desire of others to change their C4's performance more to their liking though.
Best of luck,
John

Another Polo Green owner who will say that when it's clean it's probably the best looking C-4 ever. Hey Welcome.

I will give the 1/4 mile to the Vette though. I have owned a 87 Buick GN, 97 Camaro SS and 2 SHOs and one Contour SVT, 89 Mustang GT and the LT4 is amazing.
I still have a 94 SHO (family car), 89 Mustang GT 100 % orig and in storage and now the LT4. The Dodge 3500 is the weekend toy hauler.
They are all a blast to drive and there is something cool about running a mid 14 sec 1/4 mile in a 7500lb truck. Could run faster, but I can row through the gears as fast as I could when I was younger, but then again, I couldn't afford that truck when I was younger either.
And my wife drive a 02 Volvo XC wagon, which is another fun little car.
Once I learn how to post pics, I will post a pic of the trip from Alaska and a pic of the Vette. The truck and trailer totaled 62ft. Thank goodness for trailer brakes and an exhaust brake. We have made the trip twice and it is awesome. Can't wait to do it again.
