94 v. 95
I recently had a friend ask me a question. All things being equal, would I recommended a 1995 Corvette with 44k miles or a 1994 with 34K miles. Cars are in similar condition the 1994 red the 1995 black. The vented opti and big brakes on the 1995 really appeal to me but the lower mileage has to be factored in. It would take him at least 5 years to put 10,000 miles on this weekend summer driver.
What should I tell him?
Thanks

Mileage of both cars is young - too close for it to be a factor, methinks. However, everything else being equal, the vented opti and bigger brakes are worth a lot more than 10k miles, IMO. And, the 95-96s ride nicer than the rest.
Maybe I'm partial to the 95 LT1/ZF6 cuz it was my first Vette. But, then again, that vented opti would put me over the top before 10K would put me in the 94's corner.
Your mileage may vary.

Other than the color, I doubt you would notice the difference. The opti and the brakes are definately an improvement, but probably not something you'd notice in everyday driving. Again, the mileage is not that much different, so it comes down to condition and price.

The friend needs to make his decision. This is like borrowing money from a friend IMO
But I would at least look strongly at the 95 first unless I ruled that out. The mileage doesn't factor in if he's only putting 10K on in 5 years.

Depends too, on how you're going to take care of the black paint, versus the red. Black requires a lot more work to keep looking clean (tho' it is one of the best colors you can get for a 'vette). Location too, you're in Chicago, but here in the Desert, the sun can really heat up a black car!
I like the 95 (because I own one), but Red is the color I ended up with. Didn't necessarily want it at first, but now that I have a Torch Red late C4, I love it!

go for the 95, like one of the guys say, you can't go wrong with nice brakes and vented opti...
besides I LOOOOVE black C4's. I wish I could repaint mine but I can't, seeing how it is of a specific anniversary edition. Gah!
