Carlisle C4 let down

Carlisle C4 let down
Went to carlisle Friday very nice but as far as parts and services and new part vendors forget it if that is your reason for going not much for the C4. I think the C4 is like the middle child,no attention. Don't know if I am going next year to much money for a day to look at vettes, between gas ,tolls and admission about $70.

It's been C4 suckage for sometime now. I remember years ago I needed plug wires bad. Could not find any LT1 wires in the whole place. This time I wanted a ported/powder coated LT1 manifold......nope.

I found most of the tools and parts I need but have not found the elusive 92-96 instrument cluster. Guess I will have to do the Radio Shack fix of my 91's tach. Probably be cheaper too.
I found a nice used Porter Cable buffer for $60.
I also just got back from the Hollywood Casino which was only 8 miles from my motel and won enough at the slots to pay for my trip from Michigan
I am doing a photo shoot and article tomorrow on an older gal and her 60 Corvette that she and her hubby totally restored by themselves at home. She is quite the character. I just have to find a scenic spot off the show field so I can get good pics. I will then submit it to Corvette Enthusaiia to see if they like it enough to publish the article. That will bring in enough cash to pay for my painting supplies this fall.
I really like this event in spite of the lack of C4 emphasis.
The ZR-1 and Callaway club areas are great though!

Yea I went also and got left behind by Drmrman because he said he forgot I was there and on top of that I incurred a ticket doing 90 on Route 78. I did have a Great Day. $400 today for me. Good times cost money these days. Carlisle 2011.....

Like some of you, I mostly just go to see the people. I'm not a car show person, and can't take more than about 2 hours or so at Carlisle. But I still go because a lot of nice folks, and cars, are there.
I did find it surprising that there were so few GM historical/concept cars. In years past you could see some of the CERV vehicles and things like that in the main building. This year it was just some American flag painted C5's, and some Boy Scouts painted C6. That stuff is cool and all, but seeing some Corvette history is much more interesting. I wonder if that has more to do with GM's current state of affairs than Carlisle's.

$70 to park your car inside in the Fun Field all weekend. Admission for one person is more like $15 for a day if you want to go on the cheap. If you went for the weekend, you'd spend more in parking and admission total than the $70. Plus for your $70, you get a t-shirt, entered in some raffles, and might win some trophies with your car.

Carlisle was great. As a C4 owner I am kind of shocked by the lack of products for C4s. There are lots of neat bells and whistles for c5 and c6's but you ask for it in a c4 and they look at you like you asked for a VW part. That being said, I love looking at the cars and learning more and more about corvettes. I hang out with the the guys in my car club and we have a great time.
Carlisle is really for seeing cars and meeting other vette owners to talk about our passion.

Spent all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Fun Field and can't wait for next year. It isn't always about what you get or can' get at Carlisle, it's what you do at Carlisle that makes it worth the trip. I spent the weekend with my wife and a couple of friends who were there for the same reason, to have a good time. Although they have C3's and did get parts, I picked up a new steering wheel for my 89 on Saturday. It was $200 with new leather on a GM wheel, no Made in China garbage.
