Default Exhaust suggestions

My 96 LT1 has the original exhaust installed. I would like to replace it with something that has a little rumble to it. What are some of the systems that you all have installed?

Id just ditch the resonator and leave the rest as is, it will be louder but not overbearing. Some like an H pipe some an X, some no crossover at all. Never noticed a power diff either way. Can change the pitch some though.

On my 95 LT1 I first had an X pipe installed it sound better but I wanted more so I installed Magnaflows, to me it sounds like a vette should. I would try the X pipe first made and installed about $200, Magnaflows about $380 install yourself

Your 96 has a good free flowing quiet exhaust. The C4 Vette's all have a very annoying Resonance or exhaust Drone at lower RPMs when the exhaust system is changed.

Please do a search on "Resonance or Exhaust Drone" to avoid wasting hundreds or thousands of dollars on exhaust system changes.

I love how my Corsa sound. Here is a clip I took of how it sounds on start up and Idle. Please be advised that I took these clips BEFORE I did my valve seal job.

$1200 to $1300 and how much for install ? It better sound good, to much $ for a good sound. My set up is less than half of that and putting out more power than Corsa could ever add. JMO

This is the exact setup I have on my LT1. It sounds incredible! More like a jet engine!

I got my X pipe from Advanced Automotive of Cape Coral for $89.99.

Is the sound difference worth messing around with if you don't go with an x-pipe?

I just added the x pipe today, and initially, the exhaust shop put in straight pipes in place of the resonator. That was obnoxiously loud and the drone was out of control.

The x pipe made the tone more aggressive and balanced. No popping sounds. The tone is a little higher over 3k RPM. At cruising speed, the drone is there, but it is less noticiable. I have an automatic and I find that if I shift out of overdrive, the drone is gone completely. (I think that is the only way my wife will ride in the Vette) She thinks it's too loud in the first place.

I will try to get a sound clip posted when I have a chance. Hopefully this weekend.

That's how I drive mine, out of OD since it has cheapo flowmasters. No drone around town, even on the freeway, since mines a vert, it's minimal when I toss it in OD.

Default exhaust sound

I recently had Magna Flow mufflers installed on my '92 LT1 six speed.
I love the sound. It is throaty at idle and rev up not to mention between shifts.
I bought the type with the LT1 black tips.
The nice thing is that they are a bit smaller than the stock mufflers so they seem to tuck up their better.

My local muffler shop installed them for $55.00
So add that to the price I paid for the mufflers $250.00
from Corvette Central and it was a pretty economical move
that was well worth it.

I hope this is helpful.

I have the same Magnaflows in that YouTube sound clip. Did you keep the resonator?

Borla with resonator here. Its not annoying for the most part, bit louder than stock but the drone when cruising in 6th gear (aka 1700 rpm) can get on your nerves.

I recently added the Corsa cat-back setup for under $900 new. Benefit is the "no drone" sound. Not overly intrusive sounding, except on open throttle.
