4 post car lift
I thought I would ask if any one has A 4 post lift. I am thinking of getting one but have seen so many on the net I am not sure what one would be good. if any one knows about what would be a descent brand I have seen bend pak - panther lifts - super lifts - dannmar or if you may know of A different brand or A brand to stay away from any help would be great thanks for the help. I am looking to store my vette on it and change oil and light maintenance work

I've got two lifts, both a two-post and a four-post. Each of course has advantages over the other.
Bought both of mine from Pace Tools, good price, good service, and have found them to work well for my hobby use. They are not of commercial grade though.

If your wanting one to work out of, Make sure you don't buy a "Parking/storage lift"
A friend of mine bought a "Torin" brand 4-post lift from Northern tool that turned out being a storage lift. It's a nice 72", 7000lbs lift
BUT the bottom is sealed. You can't use it for work, because their is no access to the underside of the car. It was only like $1600, But it's a complete waist of $1600 IMO.

I was able to buy a AMMCO commerical 12000# 18' alignment lift with 2 6000# air jacks for $1000 bucks yes it was used and needed paint could not be any happier. took a day to set it up and I DID BOLT IT TO THE FLOOR ( that will bring up another disscussion. Look around Greg Smith has nice units but see if there is a used equiptment dealer in your area.
Yea it might be over kill; but you may never know just how big of car you might wan to put on it.
GOOD LUCK wro87

I looked over quite a few sites last year and one of them had a video clip showing failed load tests from the big import sellers. EVERY ONE of the Chinese-made lifts failed these tests! They had customer pix of cars (vettes included) toppled over with the lift frames twisted out of dimension. The stated capacity of the Chinese lifts actually measured less than HALF of the test loads that made them fail( 5k capacities failed at 2.5k loads). Unfortunately, I lost that website when I lost my hard drive last year. Here is a site that survived and sold American lifts that passed all the tests: superlifts.com

Hello;
This lift idea is something I've pondered quite a bit over the past 20 years or so. Now with the vette it's in my thoughts much more often. Being able to store it up in the air and do minor work is very tempting. Maybe by being up in the air mice and other critters might have a tougher time using it for a winter home.
I'll have to keep an eye on this post.
thanks, nicholas

It was either this one or the 8S...
Direct Lift Pro Park 8 Plus
Very sturdy, work on my ZR-1s on the lift all the time....not even bolted.

I'll throw a wrench in here; I did this scissor lift mainly because it's portable ( to a point ) and I did not have the side clearance for a multi post lift. I did have to make some wood ramps because it sits about 5" when collapsed. I've done exhaust, brakes, complete front end and will be using it for doing the body work. It is incredibly sturdy, the only drawback would be headroom but I can get 54" with the truck adapters so I just roll around on my cushy mechanics seat

Both, 2 and 4 post are great for different jobs. Hey- if you have a two-three car garage one of each will do great things for you.

We make custom ramps for lifts, and we also have off the shelf units. They are durable and extremely light weight. They also are stable/won't slide. You can see our ramps for lifts at: http://www.raceramps.com/rackramps.html.

We have lost our manufacture industry base. Sorry.
