Ordered a new weatherstripping kit. Wanted to know what I would need to remove the old one and what do I use to put the new one. Thanks

It's not too difficult- a little messy cleaning the old w/s out of the retainers (keep a shop vac handy) and the adhesive for the new strips can make a mess, too, good idea to cover the surrounding areas with newspapers or something when you're gluing. Best glue- 3M #08008.

Use the 3M weatherstripping remover to get the glue out of the channels - that is the most time-consuming part of the process. You'll need some kind of pry tool to remove the push pins at the ends of the weatherstripping, and at the upper corners of the windshield (don't lose the pins). I didn't use any glue on my new weatherstripping, and it seems to be working fine (over a year now). Use a popsicle stick or wood shim to pop the new weatherstripping into the channels.

I would recommend not doing the A and B pillar weatherstripping the same day - do one or the other, then reinstall the top and let it sit overnight, and then do the other the next day. You may need to adjust the top brackets a bit if it is hard to reinstall.

yeah im not a NOOB i prefer just to ask. at the same time it helps other people immediatly see the topic at hand. Like the first 2 that posted that are interested.

Your not a noob, member since May of 09 but in any case God gave us brains and in these brains we use common sense thinking.

I just did mine myself also after I was quoted $400 for the install. I was nervous to do it but trust me DO NOT be scared/nervous. It is very easy to install it not even funny. First buy some 3M adhesive/bug/tar remover. Then remove the all the retainers. Find something that fits in the retainers and up in the corners of them so when u spray the 3M and let it soak for awhile scrape all the old adhesive off. This will take hours to do for all the retainers. In total there about 6 retainers I think. My front windshield retainers were not bad so i left them on. Then when installinng the retainers some people like to put the black adhesive or some 3M double sided rubber stripping on but I did not to that. It is up to you. Then screw in retainers. Buy a popsicle and eat it and use the sticks to help you wedge in the new stripping in the corners of the retainers. Start with the corners. I also did not use any adhesive except for the end pieces where the push pins go and wa-la, all done. The hardest part was cleaning the retainers. But for the rear hatch you have to pop out those clips that hold the hatch up, I cant think of what they are called now, brain freeze. Other than that is was easy. Be patient and take your time. I use the search too but sometimes it pays to field the question on the forum as someone may know of a better tool or newer adhesive or other product that has become available after the search links were archived.

What brand weatherstrip did you use?

I agree with the above comments about time -- you need lots of it and don't rush it. Your kit will probably not include the door to dash seal -- that was in the worst condition on my 91. I bought my w/s from MidAmerican and it did not include the body pins. After MUCH searching I did find the correct pins and if you need to get them locally this is what i found.
Big pins for the dash to door seal i got from my local GM dealer. $1.05 for two. They have them all, but the others are fairly expensive.
Pins for the top of the windshield w/s came from Advance Auto Parts #963-075. This is an assortment of pins, but there are 3 of the correct pin that you will need 2 of. You may need to drill out the hole by about 1/32.
The smallest pins came from NAPA #665-1987 package of 30 - you will need 6 pins. The package was around $3.50. These are for the bottom of the windshield w/s (4) and top of the roof w/s (2).
