GM Weatherstripping or Corvette-Rubber
Which would you go with GM or Corvette Rubber.
I'm redoing all the major pieces (door mains, top sides and back, windshield header, rear hatch. Prices are high
GM -from Jeff Kopp is $725 and Corvette Rubber is $600
What's the forum's opinion or experience.
Save the 125$ or spend more & go with GM and Jeff Kopp?
Tks

Here's my opinion...I recently had the weatherstrip that frames the windshield as well as both of the rear siderails replaced with GM pieces. I would not put anything else (aftermarket) on my car. And that's my opinion. :yesnod:

I just had corvette-ribber stripping installed a few weeks ago. What came was GM parts. Had the Logos on them and everything.

Rocketfinger- Thanks for the input and.....
The prices I got from Jeff Kopp (Superior Chevy in Kansas City) are the best available. Obviously he only deals with GM logo'ed parts. His policy is to offer parts for 10% over cost+shipping. So... $725 is a real quote.

Re: GM Weatherstripping or Corvette-Rubber (dbelnap)
just had my windshield replaced by glass shop.
Can't get my glass roof top to seal at the top of windshield all the way across.
Too much water is making it past the pillar part of teh seal. Also have a few other issue like the windshield has cracked already. It's only been three weeks since installed. Took the vette to corvette shop. They told me the weatherstrip seal around windshield is not OEM. It's very hard rubber instead of soft like OEM. That's causing the top not to compress all the way down. The glass place is saying it is OEM and that there is only one seal to buy for all C4's. And also can only buy OEM, no other aftermarket stuff out there. I'm going to dealership tommorow to look at an OEM seal. They are not going to like me very much if I find out they have lied to me. :smash: :mad :reddevil

They aren't going to like you very much....you were lied to. :mad There certainly is aftermarket weatherstripping available and it sounds like that's what you got - it causes the problems that you are experiencing.
If that were my car, those jerks would be taking all that aftermarket crap off and putting on GM weatherstripping. You should not have to tolerate that. :nonod: :bs

Re: GM Weatherstripping or Corvette-Rubber (rubyred93)
The guy who worked on my vette is out until monday. Told the guy today that they will be replacing the newly installed cracked windshield free of charge will use an OEM seal. They only get one more shot to get it right. I'm going to be standing there watching him do the job this time. I am f%^&##^ pissed and feed up with all these morons everywhere. :mad :mad :mad
I'm going to be even more pissed tomorrow when I look at the OEM seal at the dealerships and compare it to mine. :mad
I'm starting to have flashbacks of 15 yrs ago, blew a gasket when some crack head spit on my face. This is the wrong time for this crap to be happening to me. Going through alot of stress from my marriage, work, finances, life, etc. Think I'll go play wolfenstein online tonight to blow off some steam before I do something stupid. I really need to cool off.  :boxing

Almost everything I bought from Corvette Rubber has been original GM issue down to the package it comes in. Been very satisified.
Ask them what their going to send you.

Re: GM Weatherstripping or Corvette-Rubber (IcemanZ06)
Everything on mine (ALL of it) I personally have replaced with the stuff from Corvette Rubber. No problems - first class fit, and if memory serves all of it was latest GM design. I can't say that I even Looked for any logo's. #1 quality products and quick shipping to boot. The prices speak for themselves. I've Never been someone who assumed that the "Genuine" GM parts store (AKA the local Chevy dealer) had a direct line to the "good" stuff, or was necessarily the best way to go when it was time to buy something. Sometimes its the best way to go - not necessarily ALL the time....
