About C4 corvettes
I was hoping someone could illuminate me on why people buy C4s. C4 are older vehicles from 1984 thru 1996 so they are at best 14 years old, the engines are 5.7 L V8 which translate into a lot of gas consumption for only 250 hp or 300hp at best and on top of everything they are pricey cars, also they seem to be costly to repair. For the same money you purchase a corvette C4 you could buy the Ford Mustang late generation 2005 - 2010, with it you get about 300 hp with a much better mpg (24mpg to 28mpg). Cheaper to repair, much newer, and a 4 seat car. Anyone?
PS: I don't want anyone to take this thread as an attack to corvette I just want to understand what is going on. thanx all

You wouldn't understand unless you've owned a Corvette. Which you obviously don't. C4s may have low horsepower numbers, but they have a lot of torque. I heavily doubt the '05 Mustangs you're referring to have 340 ft/lbs of torque at hand. Also, not everyone wants or needs 4 seats, or wants an ugly looking, imo, car that every teenage girl on the planet gets for her 16th birthday. Also, you're heavily mistaken on the price of a C4. My low mileage 88 was only $10,000. I think you'd be hard pressed to find an 05+ Mustang for that price.
I think for a lot of us, it's the history, either of the car itself, or with the car through a family member. You could offer me a Roushcharged mustang with 800 horsepower, and I still wouldn't take it over my C4.

Actually, C4's are incredibly inexpensive right now..I believe they are at their low point in value..it will go back up from here. For 5k, you can have a fast, relatively reliable and good looking car. Why would I buy a Mustang when I could have a Corvette? They're all powered by the same SBC and these engines are bulletproof and easy to work on and fairly cheap to repair, not to mention easy to find parts for. If you buy a Corvette, you're not the type of person to care about fuel consumption. Corvette drivers tend to value driving enjoyment over frugality. Otherwise, everyone would drive Priuses.
Anyway, I don't know where you picked up the notion that these cars are expensive to buy or repair, because they really aren't at all.

It's also demands a higher price because it says Corvette. It's a timeless car.

With all of the above and wanted to add that a Mustang can never hold the curves the way a C4 can. Handling is a big reason why I prefer my C4 to a Mustang - that and the torque.

A lot of people like the look and the feel of the C4, it is a classic, no other car like it. A Corvette is just a toy or second car for a lot of us so a C4 is a nice ride that is not going to break the bank when one has a family.
Shopping smart if you looking for perfomance and one can pick up a nice ZR1 or LT4 that will still run(330-405hp) with a lot of newer stuff while getting 24 mpg on the highway.

My 95 gets better gas mileage than my 2003 Jeep Gr.Ch. 6cyl. and my 4.7 V8 2004 Ram. As far as performance how is a 13.5 1/4 mile. I don't think your gas saving Mustang would come out view in my rear view mirrow. They are nice cars but you are comparing apples and oranges. The Corvette is a sports car the Mustang is not. Compare it to a Camaro not to a Vette.

This is my reason.
If I wanted a Mustang I would have bought a mustang. I didn't because I would play hell trying to find it in a parking lot with 200 other Mustangs around.
Bring that Mustang out to Mo and we'll see if my L98 is under powered. But prepared to say Oh ****!

2005 Mustang 4.6 liter 300hp rated at 23 MPG
1995 Corvette 5.7 liter 300hp rated at 24 MPG
1991 Corvette 5.7 liter 250hp rated at 24 MPG
1985 Corvette 5.7 liter 230hp rated at 21 MPG
In 20 years of technology Ford managed to add 70hp and 2 mpg and no improvement in 10 years from what the Corvette had in 1995. I'm ignoring anything later, no 2008-2010 Mustang will be had for the 8-10K you can get a nice LT1.
Handling differences is a no brainer.
Repair cost and reliability I would argue is a wash between similarly priced Mustang and Corvette.
So, the answer to your question, is that none of the reasons for choosing a Mustang over a Corvette as you present them...are true.
The real question is why the hell would someone buy a Mustang over a WRX STi?
