C4 Frame braces
Here is a pic of the kit. It also comes with bolts to secure the brackets to your frame. Each 86 to 96 coupe and vert has threaded holes in the front of the frame already for the X braces. This kit uses these front holes and uses the existing bolts at the rear for the other brackets.
As designed by Gordon Killebrew and marketed by Jason Francis of www.vette2vette.com
Jason said they will be doing a kit for the 84/85 later. One of the members over at Corvette Guru will be setting up a group purchase at a discounted price. I do not know what that price will be.
Once again, before anyone rags on me: I do not get a commission on these and I have no commercial interest in them other than getting a nice price break on this early set and trying to publish an article in Corvette Enthusiast magazine of my home install.
Here they are installed on a 90 ZR1. Thanks to Mid America for graciously letting us use their exhaust install lift right in the middle of a very busy Saturday for them.
This is the set that I will be installing in my home garage:

Jeff from the Corvette Guru Forum has a ZR1 that has a prototype model on it. His model does not have the nut welded to the front end of the bar so he has to tighten the tube by hand. He says it has helped a lot but he still needs to tighten it more. A pipe wrench should do the trick.

Doesn't the frame have HUGE rails that run exactly where these do? That you have to step over to get into the car? Sorry I just don't understand how these would help at all without triangulating the frame.

I don't either but they work, I just need to get them set perfect.. I adjusted them today.. even better then the last 3 days, but I think the Passenger side still needs adjusting.. I will see how my week goes for doing that and driving it some more

I see 4 mounting bolts on the rears but only 1 on the front brackets. There must be 2 on each front bracket right? to lock it from twisting about the bolt. how much does the system weigh? The intent here is to prevent the frame from bowing right?

other way around.. the 4 bolt brackets are the front ones

The Forum parking lot was flooded out at the show on Saturday so we had to park about 900 yards from the vendor area. I carried the entire set to my car along with a my camera bag and a few other things.
I am guessing they weigh about 25#. I'll put them on a scale tomorrow.

My car suffers from horizontal twisting of the body, espec with top off as we all know. If it was bending longitudinally I think I wouldn't drive it

Weighed them on the bathroom scale today. Very unscientific weight of 19#.

I read somewhere that Gordon Killebrew actually designed these during the C4 run and suggested adding it on. He was denied by GM brass as they didn't want to add any further cost to the car.
I still don't get it either though...

Your third gen was a unibody. Therefore people use subframe connectors to connect the front and rear subframes together to make it more rigid. Corvette is full frame.
