You know, I'd love to put one of those on corner weights and see how tightening and loosening it can transfer weight from one corner to another. Hmmmmmm....

I'm thinking of taking advantage of this deal since I would like to drive the car with the targa off once in a while

I'm curious on the installation. Is there any pre tightening you should do before install? Should the targa be on and if yes then how tight?

install them then adjust, it will take a bit of trial and error to get them right

Install them with targa on a bolted as you normally do. hood closed and hatch vent removed (if applicable) tighten them as you feel they need to be and try it out. at first my hood did not pop normally, after tightening a bit more the hood was fine.. Same with the targa, should still bolt on and off as before the braces were installed

I did my install with targa off and hood closed. Initially you spin the Heim joints to line them up so they will fit the brackets and then tighten them. I just reefed on them real hard with a huge crescent wrench that I inherited from my Dad. He had named the wrench "Proud Mary". I find no more need to adjust them any more. Hood, doors, rear hatch, targa all close and open as normal.
I will have my car at Carlisle (if I get my latest intake and fuel injector project finished in time) if anyone wants to see the installed kit. I will stop by Jason's booth and let him know where I can be found. Right now I am planning to park where Nutz4C4 parks down by the Callaway display.

You guys have had them on your cars for awhile now, do you still recommend them? What are your driving impressions like now that you've made all the tweaks?

I'm debating between getting the frame braces or taga truss. Jeff, did the frame braces significantly relieve the cowl shake with your top off?

Yes, the more I adjusted the better it got.. I still need a minor tweak to make it perfect..

...and a sign of "too tight" would be?

I'm guessing doors, hood, hatch not lining up but..........

I must confess that I got these at a steep discount as mine were the first production model to be installed. I also submitted a story on the install to Corvette Enthusiast magazine so Jason gave me a break.
After driving the car with them on I would not want to be without them and would be more than willing to pay full price.
The only drawback I have noticed is that my 91 has a lopey idle and the precats must have loose junk inside of them as one of them rattles and makes it sound like a bad engine rod! Kind of embarassing:o
I ohmed my fuel injectors and found 1 real bad one and 2 that are off a bit. I also found some loose bolts when I removed the intake runners. I am in the process of replacing them now and I have also bought a catless front Y to install. Hopefully this will smooth out the idle and there won't be any more knock, knock, knock.
My theory is that the car's frame was loose enough to absorb the vibration in the past.

That's a little closer to the kind of feedback it would take to drop that kind of cash. Too bad it's bad timing for me.

How do these effect where and how your car gets jacked for tire replacements on a shop lift, or where you jack & place stands when you do driveway work under the car?

Price returns to $750 a kit at the end of August. That's a lot of money for that rig.
