something for ALL the C4 guys, especially the 84's!
Today I got my grubby little paws on an original Road & Track circa March 1983 with a 12 page story on the "new" Corvette (which they oddly call the "C5"). I've scanned it in high resolution and placed it on my site for all to enjoy.
I find it interesting to note that they liked the CrossFire engine and noted that is was rated at 16 mpg in town and 28 on the highway with the automatic - pretty impressive for 26 years ago!
Here is one half-sized scan so you can see what it's like. I put all 12 full size scans into a Winrar file for easy download. The full archive is here: http://www.marcmedina.com/84corvette...adandtrack.rar
EDIT on 6-12-2011: I've moved my webhost and had to change the file name. I've removed the direct links to the images to avoid renaming all the individual files and re-creating all the links.

You need a utility that understands the file format used.
Take a look at this.
Solutions for both Windows and Mac.

Sorry, download WinRar from here: http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm
It's like Winzip, but more flexible.
I also posted the direct links to each file if anyone else has problems with the RAR format.

Awesome! I have a motortrend magazine from 1994 that has the Corvette competing against the supra, rx-7, camaro z28 and other less substantial rivals for best bang for the buck.

Many people, including too many forum members, have forgotten (or were too young to know) what a big deal the ground breaking '84 Corvette was when it was new. The press coverage was unbelievable - I'm not sure that it has been matched in the intervening years.
The '84 opened the gateway for the Corvettes we now have, it seriously moved the Corvette beyond the boulevard. The C4 generation may be the bargain corner special now - but the achievements of the C4 generation are really quite incredible. Remember too, that at the time not all of GM was convinced that the Corvette was worth all the engineering and production resources - that maybe those resources would have been better used on other models and divisions.

The fanfare that surrounded the introduction of the 84 Corvette was amazing. I've never seen anything quite like it since.....even the new Camaro hasn't received as much hype as the 84 did then. I remember being a broke 20 year old college kid when it came out and thinking someday.......

Glad everyone is enjoying these!
I'll do some more digging and see if there are any more Corvette related R&t's in the collection.

Funny story, but I recently had a guy at a car show ask why my car was special. I told him its a survivor, mostly original, reminded him it was first year for TPI, etc. When I was done he shook his head in approval and said it was a nice car. I replied with a polite thank you, all the while thinking this guy was a jerk and he should climb back into his Mercedes with his trophy girlfriend and leave the show for people that appreciate.
