Do you guys remember when the C4 was the current model ?
Some of you here maybe own a C4 since its introduction,
im 32 now so it was always something from the movie for me
in 1996 i was 18 (i turned 19 in Late november) and living here in Southamerica there was ZERO chance i could own one of them by that time,i was very lucky to get my 87 in 2007 but that's another story.
I remember them as something from the toys and movies,a real fantasy,i was never in USA so i couldn't see one of them everyday
i remember seeing a red one back in 1998 driven by a grey haired guy,a blonde girl by his side,i swore i was king by having a 82 firebird but when this c4 went by (i wasnt driving my bird) i was totally blown away ...the sound, the sleek look,wow..it was totally another level !!!
What you remember from 1984-96 ?
ps : i would never imagine as a kid that one day i would be modifying a 1987 Corvette engine ...and owning one ...not a chance !!!
I Feel very happy !!!

Had a neighbor who would buy a new Vette every year re,e,ner when he came home with his 84 wasnt sure what to make of it. Honestly I didnt like it but it seemed to be quicker than his 82. He liked it thats all that mattered.

I'm 42 and yes, I do remember. A guy I went to school with had a new one in high school back in 84 that his dad and mom bought him. That was the first C4 that I remember seeing. Back then I never thought I'd ever get a Vette.
How are things there in Valparaiso? I hope the quakes have stopped and things are getting better.

I was finishing college when the '84 came out. I was in love with them from that very moment.
I'd go down to the dealership on Saturday nights after closing and during the day on Sunday just so I could look at them. Unfortunately, the ability to purchase wasn't within my grasp, and I had to wait.
By the time the last C4 rolled off the line, I had four kids at home and thoughts of another Corvette were way down the road.
Fortunately, by 2005 some of my business investments yielded good returns, and I was able to get my very own C4 - my black '95 coupe.
I still think the C4 is one of the best Corvettes ever.

Yes, I do remember.
I remember when the ZR1 was introduced, and seeing the first one on the road.
But the biggest "wow", was seeing that first '68 on the dealers lot (Fletcher Jones Chevrolet - Las Vegas, NV).
I was only 12 years old at the time, and all the guys on the school bus staring out the window at it.

After a long gap while raising a family, bought a 6-speed '93 new in September in Wisconsin...they were practically giving them away. stickered at $39K and I got it for $29K. Put 312 miles on it and took it up to Minneapolis and handed the keys to Doug Rippie. 3-4 weeks later, I got a rocket ship back and have had a Corvette smile ever since.

I still remember seeing the first C4 in the area...buddies and I were cruising on a fri night and saw it parked on the street. Went around the block and drove past at maybe 2 mph...never thinking then that I would have one.

I remember when the 84 came out; I was a die-hard C3 guy at the time. A buddy of mine and I saw a truck load of them parked and spent about an hour looking them over, I came away thinking I would never have one just look at the flimsy suspension and it does not even look like a Vette.

Heck yeah. I remember being a freshman in high school with a LSU folder and pasted inside was a HUGE LT-5 picture and the stats of the ZR1 down the side. It's still a goal to own a C4 ZR1!

I'm 36 and I can remember well when the C3 was the current model also. I was about 9 years old when the new body style came out in 1984 and I remember its introduction and used to drool over the C4 and the ZR-1 during my high school days in the early 90s. The C4 was in some movies like Cannonball Run 2 and was driven by Face on the A Team.

way out of my price range back in the 90's. The first one I ever drove was a 91 ZR-1 so needless to say, that left a really awesome impression.
I was able to buy a new 2008 at discount for about the same price my 95 went for new so I still consider the average vette (at retail price) to be out of my range, but the planets came into alignment and everything good that could have possibly happened to make it easier to buy my 2008 happened.
the 95 I bought for fun because I always wanted a 90's C4.

I know that feeling. I remember when the C4 was introduced I fell in love immediately. It was the first Vette I could truly say I liked since the '62. All that has changed now, I like them all,,,, but the C4 is still #1 for me.

When I bought my '95 they WERE the current generation. I considered ordering a '96 Grand Sport, but this one was more than $10k less, so it's what I drove home. I've had lots of fun; with more than 400 passes at the dragstrip, one trophy for a perfect reaction time, another trophy for winning the first West Coast Corvette Challenge event at L.A. County Raceway - I even got a 3rd in class at an NCRS Corvette show about 12 years ago.
The "new" in '84 Corvette ignited my interest - what a car! You have to remember what was being made at the time. Still; a low 15 second 1/4 mile, 140 mph top end, and the 1+ g cornering ability with shaved tires and the Z51 suspension. All of that was heady stuff for 1984. Then it just kept getting better and better each year. When the C5 came along I was actually disappointed, not in its performance - but that it just wasn't as raw. I dug the shorter wheelbase and smaller *** end of the C4.

had 5 C4s
I started my love for corvettes with the 69 C3. Wasn't able to afford a corvette until I got my electrician job at GM in 1985 and waited until 1987 for the tune port engine to buy a red one. Had to sell due to getting married and it took until 1994 before I got a 1992 manual blue coupe. I bought a 1990 white convertible to go with the 1992 coupe and then sold both and bought the 1996 Collector Edition LT4 red seated black top model which was to be my ultimate vette. A strike at GM Pontiac Truck Plant triggered a bankruptcy that put me out of corvettes until 2007 where I picked up another collector edition with low miles but a coupe and automatic. It came with the stainless borla exhaust but it wasn't until this year that I learned it had headers and true dual exhaust and a bbk throttle body. Also I learned it was 2000 rpm higher at 60 mph so it doesn't have a stock rearend. If I knew this at purchase time I would have paid less for it as collector editions should remain stock for optimum resale. I'm happy with the car as it feels very much like a race car. I was 28 when I got my first one and am 53 presently.

I'm 46 and was a sophomore in college in 1984. I remember the introduction of the 84 VERY well, and all the hype that surrounded it. I think the C4 is one of the most beautiful automobiles ever made at any price.
