Non-deep dish ZR1 wheels?
Several years ago it seemed the internet was flooded with sources for ZR1 replica A-Molds, both 17x9.5 and 17x11's, true ZR1 or GS offset.
A friend recently picked up a Typhoon and is looking for a set for it.
Sadly, it seems like the only thing that can be found now is these crappy looking "deep dish" replicas. Apologies to any of you out there that have them, or like them, but my, and his personal opinions are that they look like _ _ _.
Does anyone out there know of a source for the older styled, factory looking, ZR1 replica wheels?
We're trying to find a set of 17x9.5/17x11's in silver.
The only thing on eBay are the "deep dish" ones with the large lip on the rear.
Thanks in advance.

I bought a set from a company in Florida a few years ago. I think it was OE wheels in Sarasota. I think I also saw a post in General section under wheels lately.

Yeah, that's who I bought a set from for my '94 about 6-7yrs ago, but it seems all they have now is the "deep dish" ones.
They call them their "Morxchn Designs" wheels.

Just called and spoke to OE and they said a few years ago their "distributor" dropped the standard replicas and only offer the "deep dish" ones now, so that's all they can sell/offer.

I know everybody has their own likes and dislikes but most people I've seen prefer the deep dish wheels. I had to read twice that you wanted the non-deep dish ones

Guess it's the difference between those who want ZR1 "replica" wheels, vs those who want ZR1 "styled" (i.e deep dished) wheels.
I prefer the more factory look.

I'm kind of in the same boat. I wish I'd ordered a set a couple years ago when they were abundant. I too dislike the deep rim wheels that are all around now and would also like to get a set of the original look wheels eventually. I figure if I wait long enough a set will appear.

Sure about that?
Stock ZR1 rear wheels do NOT have a deep "dish", or lip to them due to the offset.
The offset is adjusted by the entire "face" of the wheel being offset out from the mounting surface of the wheel. This is why you have the deep, recessed area where the lugnuts go on a true ZR1 wheel.
The aftermarket ZR1 "styled" wheels available now achieve the offset adjustment by actually offsetting the wheel "shell" outward, thus giving the rear wheel's a deep "dish" or lip.

The wheels your looking for are pretty rare,I think these would be the AFS? wheels.Someone told me that there was a connection between AFS and A-Mold,dont know exactly what the connection is if any.The wheels are not gong to be easy to find.Might be easier to buy a used set of A-Molds.

initially i didn't like the the deep-dish (look like poo is a little harsh, lol...),
www.tires.com
www.discounttiredirect.com
both have the "Standard" none dep-dish wheels available. They are reasonably priced as well.
BTW- i ended up getting the deep-dish and they are BAD-A$$ in person! everyone that's seem them likes them. My c4 is also lowered, and it sits flush with the body line with 315's!

Could be mistaken cause i never really looked into zr-1 wheels but if he got the 84-87 offset wouldnt they be the style he's looking for? If the offset is zr-1 spec for those years wouldnt they not be deep dish but deep lug to achieve the offset?

He's not talking about the same "dish" you are. Factory Z wheels have a deep recess in the lug area. Then some aftermarket ones stopped having that deep recess, with the face looking similar to a 9.5" wheel. But what he is talking about is the very newest ones. They have a dish where the spokes hit the barrel. And I agree with the OP, they look hideous.
I'd think you should be able to find a used set with a little bit of persistence. The knockoffs with OEM styling were made for a while and it's a pretty common wheel.

I'm local to you and have a set I might be selling soon. Feel free to drop me a line and we'll talk. They are 17x9.5s on all 4 corners and are NOT replicas. They are true GM wheels.
