Did any other GM cars come with mood light mirrors?
I really like the downward-facing mood light on my 89's rear view mirror. It would be nice to have this in my 85 Z28 since the console and HVAC controls are lit very poorly. Unfortunately, the Camaro mirror is mounted to a steel tab glued on the windshield instead of screwing in to the windshield frame like the one in my 89 Vette. Did any other GM car come with a rear view mirror like the one in a C4, but is mounted to the windshield? Any leads to what I should hunt for in a junkyard would be much appreciated.

If you mean the mirrors with the interior lights built in,
many gm vehicles used them.Try looking for a mid 90's
S-10 or S Blazer,I owned several that had them.I think
they will bolt right on.

It's commonly referred to as, "Ambient" lighting.
My "91" Camaro had the ambient light on the center of the dash just below the center vents. It illuminates a soft "Amber" glow on the front center of the dash in front of the shifter when the vehicle is driven at night.
I would think all Third Gen Camaro's have the same ambient light. Look to see if the ambient light is there but, not working on your "85" Camaro. You'll have to look with a flashlight because it's a very tiny hole that you would think is nothing.

Think he's talking abut the mirror with the small light that comes on with the headlamps. The light is intended to dimly illuminate the console area. Not the same as interior lights that come on when the door is opened.
It's hard to say if other GM cars used the same mirror assembly (mirror lights and plastic frame) but the mounting bracket itself should have the same type of ball mount used on the Corvette mirror and other GM cars. So if you can't find a C4-specific mirror (any C4 mirror would work), then similar GM mirrors should attach to the mounting arm. The problem would be getting power to the mirror. A hot wire and ground wire would have to go up one side of the A-pillar and over to the center of the windshield header, then down to the mirror.

I thought about changing the ball mount to match the one on my Camaro, but I can't see an easy way to un-crimp and then re-crimp the socket without tearing things up pretty badly. That's why I was hoping that GM had made a mirror like my C4's that mounted directly to the windshield.
