carfax ??

I guess my question would be, if you purchased a Carfax on your car and a potential buyer wanted proof of a clean Carfax, would you make them go out and purchase their own? If your being a stickler to the language then you could not even offer them your personal copy. Yet dealers, at least around here, offer a free Carfax to anybody considering purchasing a used vehicle. This has been blatantly advertised for years yet I have heard nothing about Carfax doing anything to curtail this.

some of us do not understand what personal use is I see.
When someone purchases something it belongs to them. Copyright laws are a different animal all together.

Carfax does not do anything about the dealers because dealers pay monthly or yearly or whatever for the unlimited use of carfax. They have a special website where dealership salesmen are able to go into the carfax report computer by using a name and password.
I have a hunch that many people want a free carfax because they feel like they are "wormed" into purchasing the unlimited reports plan. ???
Perhaps carfax would have more success if they sold one report for $6.99 or something like that.
1 CARFAX Report for $29.99
10 CARFAX Reports for $34.99
Unlimited CARFAX Reports for $39.99

My 02c is personal use is using the reports without profit- commercially means to sell (I think, in this scenerio).
Personal use is 'my personal use'- I personally chose to run one for a friend, family member and/or the future buyer of my car, including printing it for said buyer without re selling carfax content, I would think this would be ok with carfax.

I've seen 2000 vette with 45k miles, and seems like a deal. Look up the carfax and I find that the first owner had it for 7 years and put on 24k miles. The last owner had it one year and put 21k miles on it. I also see that the last owner did not have any dealer service done. Now I'm looking at a car that appears to be great, only to see it was beat to shiz the last year.
Although carfax is not all inclusive, including accidents, dealer maintenance etc. Not all dealers subcribe and therefore info may be lacking. Accidents/Floods can be hidden if the owner did not do an insurance claim, but fixed it themselves.

[QUOTE=socalman;1572366546]as of March of 08' carfax reports were $8 when running through ebay. Don't know what made them go through the roof.

It didn't begin well for that matter
The same things could be said about religion. Interesting how people pick and choose which parts of the bible they support and which parts they don't when it does or doesn't suit their needs.
It really is funny to listen to people who steal through white collar crime like recording piracy, tax/insurance fraud, lies when licensing their cars, misuse of licenses like CARFAX, etc, and they blather about trying to justify their complete disregard for rules, morals and laws because they don't suit their personal needs. I'd love to hear the revolting justifications you pass on to your kids. Thats why the world keeps getting worse.
I'd also like to see the Forum review this thread, take those who proudly proclaim their ignoring the CARFAX forum rules and ban them.
