Default Another Window motor thread

What is it that makes my window go up painfully slow. Obviously the motor works in order for it to move the window up,,,,is it a lack of current or something in the motor burning out? I see "new" replacement motors on ebay for about $50, has anyone tryed these? Thx

I recently treated my weather stripping and they move even slower now. The weather stripping, in the morning, when cool, seems to slow them even more. Not sure what the cure would be.

You need to replace the motor, the motor is getting weak, you should do this before it get's stuck in the down position. I think shamdave has one, you might be able to get it for a better price from him.

Just because the motor functions, doesn't mean it's OK.

I just replaced my drivers side motor on an 89. Had the same issues stated here - window goes up slow when the door is closed. Well after the new motor its better but still the new WS seems to slow it down. I am going to try and align it again tomorrow. When I roll the window up with the door open and then close it is a great fit. But with the door closed it does not seal well at all...... ugh

You can clean and lube the tube that guides the glass, that will help, but the real cure is to replace the reg/motor with the newer sissor style.

I have a set from a 92, if your interested. I bought a used set and a new set, within days of each other.

Default clean and lube everything first -

the drivers window ribbon broke on my 85, and when i replace it, i cleaned and lubed everything. after assembly, i had a 3 second down and 4 second up operation. not quite as good as a scissor style, but probably within 1 second or so...

i have a set of late model scissor mechanisms, and will probably upgrade the 85 when i do a full repaint.
