Deadwood And Back ..... Awesome!!
Made it back from Deadwood. The Vette ran flawless. Weather was great while traveling, and sucked when we finally arrived. The rain let up just enough for the last three bands at the jam. The Outlaws just blew every one away especially when they performed Green Grass and High Tides with dual lead guitarists, just unbelievable.
Of course the Black Hills were just beautiful and the Needles Highway is a lot more fun in a Vette than a Jimmy
Jim
Exactly 2,539.2 miles round trip. Longest trip ever in my Vette.
Bugs, what bugs

Wasn't it fun? There is nothing like a road trip in a corvette. I just got home last week from my annual trip, a total of 5630 miles in eight days. I left Louisiana and drove to Minn. then across N. Dak. Mont. Idaho, Washington, Oregon, down the coast highway into Calif. Then back through Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and back home to La.
It's a 95 coupe, and it ran flawlessly the entire trip. Gave me 25.5 mpg average, and that was crusing around 80 mph. Not a hint of a problem the whole way. I turned over 100,000 miles on this trip
It's the third year that my wife has let me go on a road trip, all out west, and all alone. I have no schedule and no timetable, just drive till I get tired. I love driving this car. Everyone that has a corvette should take at least one long trip in it. It will make you appreciate it even more.

Beat you both, exactly 6600 miles in 3 weeks earlier this year.
It's funny, the traditional vacation states that come to mind are Florida, Hawaii, California, etc. South Dakota had a whole lot to offer. We spent 5 or 6 days there. Deadwood was a fun place, ate at an outdoor cafe that had live music - at lunchtime!
Glad the trip went well for you. And is it just me, or is the C-4 one of the most comfortable cars to be in on a long trip?

Railroadman, I agree with you on the C4 being a very comfortable road car. Last year I left Monroe, La. at 5:00 am and drove to Grants, New Mex., stopping only briefly for gas and food. It was a total of 1010 miles, and I was out of the vette that evening at 9:30. I felt great. No aching back or cramped muscles. I could have gone more if not for being sleepy.
It's the most comfortable car I've ever owned.

Yep, the Corvette makes a great road-trip car.
Now your ready to come join us on the annual Hot Rod Power Tour.
Longest one for me so far was in 2006. Just a little over 4,000 miles from the time I left home until I returned 10 days later.
Oh, and post up some pictures. I bet you got some good ones along the way.

Yeah !!! I've got a 94 LT1 auto that is a great road trip car. I love driving across the OK panhandle, just keep the radar detector on and motor, motor, motor. Blow through Felt, OK at about 80 and then jump up to 95 or 100 until you get to New Mex. LOVE IT!!
I made the trip from Conway, AR to Souix Falls, then across So.Dak. to Deadwood, then into Wyoming and down thru Colo and back across OK panhandle last Oct. Left Raton, New Mex about 7 am and was back in Morrilton Ar eating a steak and having a cold beer at 6:15 that pm.
Guess I'm weird, but, I sure do like driving this car. Don't even have to have any company, or the radio on. Just drive.

Epimax, yes the Cypress Landing is still open, with no changes since you were there probably. I went to NLU also, and it has grown a little, but not much. You made a good move getting out of Louisiana. I'm tired of the weather and the politics here. If my wife would do it I would be somewhere in Missouri. I hope you have a good trip.
