When I did my sawblades, I just removed the clear on the top part and around the edge. I left the clear on the painted areas, you can use a roll-loc pad from 3M to remove the clear and the small machining lines that are on the surface of the rim. After removing the clear and machining lines I used 400, 600, and 1000 grit to slowly remove the scratches. To finnish of I used a fine polishing rouge, bar and a one inch wide buffing wheel. To keep them clean use jewlers rouge made my MFX. Worked well and they turned out great, just need patience and time. :cheers:

He polished his rims. hard to tell with the lighting in his pics. Must have been overcast.
