Is the wave dead?
I always wave when I see another vette, I don't care what gen it is. Most times (90% or so) I get one in return. Today I had to run into town, so I hoped in the vette. Stopped for traffic, and a green 96 goes by so I wave. No response. I pull out right behind him and off we go. A mile later he pulls into a parking lot and I continue down Main st. Ten minutes later I'm heading back to the shop and there he is pulling back out on to Main st. I give him another wave and still nothing. I don't get it. On the way home from work I see an F-body and give him a wave. Guess what ? I got one back!
rant off.

I don't really notice other Vettes anymore. So I may or I may not. Having a C4 the only ones I look for to wave are other C4's. They almost always wave back.

Keep in mind not everybody KNOWS about the wave, and some don't CARE. I have a friend who recently bought a C-4. When I told him about waving he thought I was pulling his leg at first. Even when I convinced him I was serious he was not enthused. He bought the Vette because it was something different, and I have no doubt one of these days he'll sell it on just as much of an impulse as he bought it. He's not AGAINST other Vettes, just not a big deal to him. If he feels like it he may wave, he may not.
It might not even be the owner! While some guys won't allow anybody else behind their wheel, others view it just as a car. Suppose the guy you saw had car trouble, his neighbor said "Here, take my Vette and go get your groceries" You think that guy knows about a wave?
It's nice when somebody waves and I always try to do so, but I don't get worked up if they don't. And lastly, no matter how dedicated a "waver" you are, sometimes you're looking at something else, look back at the road, and realize you just got waved at and now the other Vette is gone by. Oh well....!

besides my 92 i have 6 other cars one is a 1980 cj-7. I bought it new and it didnt take another cj owner to tell me to wave to other cj owners, and thats all iv got to say about that. As far as wrangler owners, well, thats a different story.

When we were on vacation in the Outer banks last week I saw a C5 wave to a C6. It was kind of cool. I was watching the C6 out of my rear view because I wanted daughter to see it out of her window, ny son already saw it out of his. Well as we were driving I saw a red C5 vert turn onto Rt 12 and he waved to the C6 and the red C6 waved back. So at least in the Outer Banks is still alive and with newer generations.
But most importantly the C6 pulled into Harris Teeter and my daughter got to see it.
I swear that I see more vettes when I am driving my Durango than I do when I am in my vette.

Eye contact and positioning are key. Get a wave most of the time from a C4 but not counting. I think I tend to make an more of an effort to wave at a C4 when possible. Can’t remember much about C6s.
