Default AC Performance

1996 Coupe

Just wondering if while AC is on and dash vent mode selected, is it normal to get a slight airflow out of the defrosters and floor vents. Otherwise everything else regarding the AC seems to be normal?

Thanks!

How much is a slight amount ? A better way to look at it might be to try and decide if you have a normal amount of air coming out the desired vents. If so then I wouldn't worry about it.

Can some of you check your own coupe and see if you have the same condition. Please indicate the year of your vehicle.

My 96 coupe does the same thing, not very much air comes thru them but there is some. Hope this helps.

Thanks Fastnail for your input. I’m trying to determine if the system was designed this way or if there is a slight malfunction involved.

96's have a poorly designed componet that allows vaccum lines to collapse thus kerping the vents from operating properly...

consider yourself lucky that you have any forward blowing air. i have 2 96's... my LT4 only has air coming from the floor and windshield vents. My GS will eventually switch to the forward dash vent after driving it for a few minutes

search the web for this exact problem and you can read more about it as well as the fix
