1986 oil temp
I have a new to me 1986 Convertible 4+3 base with about 51,000 miles. Car had been sitting for a while when I got it. I did a thorough service to include oil change with 5w30 dino, oil and air filters, MAF and throttle body cleaning, AC Delco 5 plugs, plug wires, dist cap and rotor, and OD fluid and filter change. The car runs and drives great. My coolant temp in normal driving is around 200-210 with outside air temp about 75F. The oil temp is around 230-240 at the same time. I drove the car pretty hard today on some curvy roads here in the Ozarks and the oil temp got up to around 255. Is this normal? Any suggestions are appreciated. I know this has been discussed at length in the past but most of the threads I see are really old.

What are or were, today, the ambient temps? That is higher than I'd expect....although not detrimental.
Your car should have an oil cooler and thus, the oil temps should run very close to the coolant temps. My car, which has no oil cooler, rarely gets above 220, and typical summer highway cruising it'll run 200-210. Track use will push it as high as 275...but again, no oil cooler.

That is a relatively normal oil temperature in my experience. My 84 would do that stock... mid 240s on the oil on a 75+ degree day and 200-215 on the coolant.
