Default Baby has a new pair of shoes...

Purchased a set of Sumitomo's from Tire Rack and had them installed last night. The tire changer, before lifting the Vette, opened the hood,
the hatch, the doors and the gas lid. When asked why, he said he didn't want to crack anything per his instructions.

Standard operating procedure?

It's an old Corvette myth.

Default Myth

must be a well travelled one too. Lots of peeps here do the same thing when placing c4's on jacks or stands.

Most shops do it out here. They are afraid of flex during the lifting process.

I am looking at the same tires. Would you let us know how you like them after you've had a chance to put some miles on? I've heard both good and bad, but the price is hard to beat. Thanks.

Sometimes opening & closing the door with the car jacked can be a real PITA

We in doubt, take precautions.

I'd rather see a shop take precautions than not.
Shows they care about your car.

I can do that right now. This is my second set. What I purchased was the Sumitomo's HTR-Z 17'x2.75x40. They were $92.00 each. I got 35,000 miles on the first set and for Florida, thats great.
