I've had a couple friends who just bought brand new Jettas (hahahaha...) talk crap about my '93. How it's slow and whatever else.... that is, until I gave them a ride in my C4 that made them nearly **** their pants.

I don't see a lot of people who "hate" them... to the average Corvette enthusiast they're just the middle child. They lack the visceral appeal of the high-po C3s, and they don't offer the objective performance numbers of the C5. Plus there are a lot of Corvette fan-boi's who come across as a bit gauche when they talk about the stock C4 doing outlandish things performance-wise.
However, most of the people who rag on them don't know so much what they talking about. Most real gearheads realize the potential. They're dirt cheap, and it's hard to set up a better road-course toy than a C4, from what I've seen.

Most problems you see addressed on here are the same problems these cars had when they were new . GM fuel injection was slowly developing so it came with its hiccups here and there.

I'm about to preach.
As I've gotten a bit older, I find there are a bunch of A-hole haters who live to put other people down. Tell them to go "f" themselves and move on. Life is way too short - don't waste your time around negative people.

The best reply is to ask them what they think the best year Vette is. Then just laugh at them.

I love my C4s. Even though my LT4 is killing me financially. I've invested lots of money to bring that bad *** alive and I F it up few days ago. I'll fix her up and I know someday I'll buy a third one.
In 1986, back then a brand new Corvette, it was just a dream.
These new people are rich and have nothing to say but on how much tune money they got in their vettes and I love to read on Who is the best tuner...Joe, Moe, Manny
Trust me, a C4 handles very good on curves , good enough to keep up with C5 & C6 with coilovers.
