Default gear ratio

how do i find out what gear ratio i have,,,i think its a 2:59,,,year is 87 is there a tag or somthing on the rear end ?

I found mine by looking at my RPO codes on the sticker in the car and then looking online to see what options I had.

Exactly. The RPO codes should be on a sticker that is stuck to the bottom of the consel lid.

If it has been removed simply jack up the rear of the car, support it properly with jackstands and give the tires one full rotation while counting the number of revolutions the front yoke makes on the diff. (Car must be in neutral).

you can also jack up the rear end and look for the tag that is on the rear left axle. I just did this myself last summer. went from 2.59 to 3.51 i believe. i think the 2.59 code was A09 tag that was on the axle.
