to the OP-
this corvette-camaro reminds me of that company that makes "old school" corvette re-bodies using a modern (c5 or is it a c6) vette'... has anyone seen these? I thought they were ugly as sin originally. I saw one at the scottsdale Pavilions (this past weekend). It didn't look too bad. Not my "cup of tea", but not "too" bad.
In other words, if someone has taken the time to "clean up" this corvette-camaro rebody, it "might" have come out looking reasonable?
If the car was done "right" and by (for the sake of argument) Chip Foose, we'd have a seriously different set of comments.

If Chip Foose or any other notable designer or builder put their name on anything that resembled these "attempts", he'd/they'd be forced to drink the kool-aid.

but I see where he is coming from. If someone took time to do the project right it would look a whole lot better than the mess of parts in the picture. I still wouldnt want one but at least I would be able to keep my lunch down.

Mako Shark designed by the famous Larry Shinoda under the supervision of the even more famous Bill Mitchell, head of GM design at the time (1961?), Mitchell himself being a disciple of Harley Earl. The car was built by GM engineers. There's also an article/quote by Larry Shinoda on CAC about the Mako Shark I.
Carroll Shelby was largely involved in design of the Viper and the later models were designed by Peter Brock.

So, maybe this expression of self style is attributed to the individual mentioned, but he certainly had nothing to do with the vehicles mentioned, never mind that the referenced designs were separated by 30+ odd years.
