Less C4's on the road?
wife and i drove to florida on I95. The entire trip (back and forth), we did not see a single C4. On top of that only saw 1 C6 and 1 C5.
As a matter of fact I can't even think the last time I saw a C4 on the road.
Thoughts?

For that matter pick any mid-80's car or mid-90's production car and make a conscious effort to try to spot as many as you can while driving. You won't find too many and that includes cars that had larger production numbers than the Vette. Time moves on and people sell older cars and buy newer ones.
Although, I believe that due to enthusiasts and the fact that a lot of people don't drive Vettes as they would daily drivers many more have remained around in nice condition. I have actually seen quite a few C4's in my area and on the highways, more than C6's but a little less than the amount of C5's, although not by much.

Not sure where you were driving from but in the northern tier of the country a lot of C4s (and older Corvettes) are just coming out of their winter sleep.

wit 4th. Most 80s and 90s cars are in the crusher or their owners are on forums trying to figure out how to get them to start

I bet the C4's will be outnumbered at CI-X, but mine is a DD in the good 3 seasons. C4's were built to be driven. And I wave to all Vettes!!!

When I think the same thing, why arent there more C4. I have to remember, the oldest C4, 1984 can be as old as 26 years old, and the newest C4, 1996 is 13 years old.
It seems every 3 to 4 weeks someone posts pictures of their totalled C4on this forum. Also, some folks blow a tranny, engine and then part out their car, some turn into racers of some sort. There should be less and less, and for myself, at least, mine isnt a daily driver, just a fair weather driver.
I do see a lot more C5 and C6 than C4 and I do see a lot more C4 than C3 , C2, and C1. But that can vary on really nice days around here.

I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. C4's are very hard to come by. It's very rare that you see one being driven on the road or even being displayed at any of the the local car shows. C5's on the other hand, are a dime a dozen. I can't go anywhere without seeing a hand full of them. Sometimes it seems like everybody and their mother owns a C5 around here. They're "common place" and most don't even get a second look from anyone. I think there are more C5's out here then Mustangs, T/A's and Camaro's combined.
That's fine by me. Makes me like my C4 even more since these cars are so scarce.
It's funny, I was out today with a friend of mine who previously owned a '98 that he recently sold. We were meeting up with some friends of ours and I picked him up in my '92. It was freshly waxed last night and this morning I took off the targa-top before I left (I never drive with the roof on ) . It drew a lot of attention and received a lot of thumbs up from other drivers as well as people walking by on the street. I got three compliments from people who pulled up along side me at the lights. They all loved the car and complimented me on how "beautiful" they thought it looked. Thing is, none of these people were really "Corvette" enthuists as they were all shocked when I told them it was a '92.
They all thought it was a "new" car.
Just goes to show you that the C4's exterior design was well ahead of its time and still looks fresh even today. Not too many car's out there build in the same era can say the same.
Needless to say, my buddy just couldn't figure out why my car got so much attention and praise from passers-by, while his C5 received compliments only from other C5 owners. He actually got kind of upset over it and he doesn't even own that C5 anymore
He couldn't figure out why an older car was getting more attention then a newer one so for the hell of it, I asked him to count every C5 we saw on the way to our destination. When we finally got there about an hour later, we had counted a total of 27 C5's we passed on the way. C4's? Not a single one....
"That's why this car gets more attention" I told him....
The fewer C4's there are on the street, the more they stand out and the more compliments you receive from people when they do finally get a chance to see one. I guess you can say that about any car really. The more rare a car is, the more attention it attracts when it makes an appearance. It's nice to be the only guy around here with a C4, although I must admit, it does get a bit lonely sometimes being the only one

I guess I'm lucky in that when I drive my White '90, I see a White '88 three houses down and another White '90 Vert next door to the 88. Across from the other 90 is a gorgeous red on red 62, but she isn't allowed outside much.

Saw three C4's today, but the same three that I always see, they are only ones besides me in my neck of the woods, C5s are all over the place. I do see more C6's around than I expected though.

I generally see alot of Corvettes in my area. Even see C3s a couple of times a week. I do see plenty of C4s and ofcourse many newer Corvettes.
Just depends on the area.

Same here. I can't tell you when the last time I saw a C4 on the road other than the car shows locally.
Funny thing happened last week. My wife calls me telling me she got a flat in the minivan. I hop in the Corvette and go change her tire and we stop at a gas station on the way back. My wife says she's good to go and I can go ahead home before her.
When my wife gets home she tells me that the girl cashier was asking if I was her husband or friend, etc. She then tells my wife that my car is such a nice car and couldn't believe it was an older car and that it was nicer than most new cars she sees.
Needless to say, hearing that made my day.
