Default What are the widest tires that I can put on.

Hi there,
I am shopping for some new tires for my "90 convertible and was wondering, what are the widest tires that I can get under the wheel wells?
I have 275/40/17's on her now.......but......would like to go as Wide as I can with out any alterations to the wheel wells.
I know that the ZR1's are running 315's on the back of their cars, and of course I know that their rear body panels are wider to accommodate the wider tires.......but I am wanting to go bigger than just a 275.
So?
What can you guys tell me about going Bigger?
And Yes!
Size does matter! lol

I have 315s on my 84. They fit fine. 17x9.5 in front, 17x11 in the back.

Some track racers run 315s at both ends without issues - don't need a ZR1

It depends on your wheels. ZR1s run 315s in the rear but they have an 11" wheel. I wouldn't try to mount those on the 90s stock wheels.

In a regular C4 (Not ZR1) 315 fit perfect with a 50mm off set. There are few members here with bigger than 315.
