Wow. I've seen writeups like this before, but it still amazes me. I really wish my vette wasn't a DD sometimes

I wonder how much he charges ? Great job. 60 + hours on one car can not be cheap.

Great job BUT I didn't like seeing all that water on the LT5. Hope he didn't power wash it. If he did he should be told for future reference that it floods the valley under the fuel tubes/injectors and shorts out the starter. Hope the guys starter will continue working...replacing the started is a big bucks cost! Most all ZR-1 owners know that's a NO NO.

Hell just $30 an hour at 60 hours is $1800. I'd bet he charged more than that. Even at $2000 you wouldn't match a new paint job, plus you could say it's the original paint if he was planning on selling the car in the future.

That really seems like too many hours on that car. the paint wasn't in horrible shape. Good turnout regardless.

I didn't know scratches and pitting good be made to look that good. To me that's just amazing and I'm sure the price was much less than a paint job. Paint jobs these days can cost as much as a new car. My paint is in pretty good shape but I would like Him to spend some time on my car.

I just washed and waxed yesterday and thought she looked pretty good...now I think I should go do it again..and again...and again. But it was a great writeup, some neat ideas.

Hi everyone,

I came across this thread and just wanted to say thanks for all of really nice comments!

The car was absolutely hammered when it first arrived, so I took it as a challenge to see if I could bring the old girl back to life. The owners main concern was to keep the car original as possible, without doing any major paintwork unless it was total necessary.

For those who were wondering, a ton of work goes into a complete vehicle rejuvenation such as this, so it was a little pricey. The way the owner see's it, is that a quality paint job would have cost at least 4 times what I charged him, so it was well worth it in his eyes, not to mention keeping the car all original. After all expenses, overhead, etc, I really didn't make much $$ at all. I am a Corvette owner/lover myself, so it was more of a challenge than anything. I would actually love to find another one in this shape to do it all over again.

ZRWON- For the record, the engine compartment was detailed by hand and was not saturated with water as stated in the write up. It got a little wet from rinsing down the cowl area, which is what you saw in the pictures. I know it is a big no no on these cars. Thanks for the heads up though!

Impala Balko- If you are in MA, you should definitely stop by sometime. I'd love to check out you car...

USAFPILOT- I do road trips!
