87 coupe dash pad repair question
I have a single split in my dash pad by the defroster vent. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck in sealing or gluing the split and then using some sort of dye to refinish the whole dash pad?
What was used to seal the split and the dye used?

You can buy a dash cap for under $100 from Mid America, Ecklers, etc. Never tried actually repairing one. I always wondered what it would look like if you sanded the crack down, used Bondo and feather edge sanded it, textured the entire pad so it matches, and repainted with vinyl paint.
Anyone with a cracked pad brave enough to try it?

Mine had the same issue. A long crack from the corner of the vent to the edge of the dash.
I just bit the bullet and bought a replacement. It was expensive, but worth it. It makes the car look a lot better
The Dash pad cost nearly 500, but worth it.

I replaced mine with a Dashcap, it has the same texture as the original, and only cost me $90.00. Since the C4 dash is so flat and has very little curve to it a cap looks great. I would have to say they fit so well and look so good nobody would notice.. Just don't try to put the car through N.C.R.S judging.....WW
