It looks like the stock power seats in our cars are pretty light. I figured they would've been more than 40 lbs with the tracks. Also to add to this, my (at the time stock) 86 premium z51 coupe weighed 3127 with a full tank, a toolbox in the hatch, and 4 or 5 college books in the passenger seat without me in the car. This car also had a d44. I would assume the books were 20ish lbs, the toolbox is about 45 (small box with simple tools). The early cars are good candidates for turning into racecars since they are already so light 😁

I have a 1984 white, targa top vette! cross fire with manual four over three tranny! red interior, need much work! especially carpet! has cruise, tilt, air, digital dash! rpm indicator works rarely! air blows mild air! tail lights don't work all other rear lighting applications do! ele windows recently stopped working! I replaced all fuses with correct amp fuses but this didn't help! bought a switch that goes under the break pedal but don't know how to install! someone before me must have redone the engine because it screams! I had a 375hp 69 ss Camaro but my vette seems at least as responsive! I just discovered this application on my computer but it has already helped me! mike

This is a Great Thread. I looked everywhere. Does anyone have any weights on all the glass on these cars? Rear window/Windshields & door glass?

Rear hatch glass @30lbs. You can substitute with polycarbonate for around 12lbs.

Just weighed 91 Sport Seat tonight and came to 19lbs 4oz. This is for the seat only. Does not include the track. But show how light these components in these cars can be without the extras. There are carbon seats out there that weigh as much or more.

1988 Horn each (there are 2) 1 lbs.

1988 electric door lock motor each (there are 2) 11 oz.

I'm down to 2990 race weight (NASA track scale) with me (200 lbs) and 12 gallons of fuel (72 lbs). Making the car pretty light dry at 2718. 2600's are not far away! I still have stock glass, iron block, and stock column. Next will be a race steering column and wheel.

Where are you getting a race steering column? How much weight saved there? Can the race steering column accommodate the turn signal and wiper stalk?

I haven't decided what parts numbers yet. I'm using a parts diagram from Woodward for what to measure. I'm also looking at a few Allstar parts.

http://www.woodwardsteering.com/PDF/...Releases-1.pdf

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aa...2170/overview/

I do not need the stalk (removed wipers etc) and may use buttons for the signals since I do still street drive it.

The column is really heavy I didn't remove it for a weight yet. When I gutted in the interior I had to wire it to the roof. I would guess it's 25 lbs.

Figured I'd save someone the trouble, I did my homework but the weights I read were much higher. 86 energy absorber just over 6lbs(I read 10 to 15), impact bar w/o lights, but with the top bar/bracket still riveted on just under 12lbs(I read 14 to 35). I was trying to trim a few pounds off the nose like I did on my 77(40lbs w/o much effort). I may trim 3-5lbs and it's not worth the effort and fun to re-align it all.
