Bill Heard Chevy in Phoenix closed
Bill Heard Chevy here in Scottsdale has shut it's doors. I am not sure why, or whether they will reopen any time soon.
I noticed a lot of ads on this forum, and some of you might buy stuff from them. I have purchased many parts there, I really liked them.
Let's hope they reopen soon.

I heard that some big Scottsdale car dealership had shut down. I pass by Bill Heard everyday and didn't even bother to look over. They had just built their new place. They had the absolute worst parts department in the valley.

When I was out in Vegas in 2006 for the Corvette Roulette Show, Bill Heard was a sponsor and had a few new vettes on display. They were charging $10,000 over sticker for a coupe!!! And every car had $2,000+ desert protection package on it. A relatively standard coupe was costing what a convertable back here was going for and more. Every corvette they had there had a extra ten grand tacked on.

Extra window tint and also paint protection plus a few other things thrown in. Definitely not worth the extra $2,000+. Just like most dealers try to charge you extra for paint and fabric protecion.

No a tube of SPF 30 sunblock. LOL
A lot of the BIG dealers in PHX try to sell that extra $$ chit to build there profit margin. That's why I always go to a small town dealer and order the car I want.
In about one week Heard and a big Ford dealer closed. So much for the large fancy showroom, it cost a lot of $$ to cover the overhead on those big buildings.

Those dealer prep packages are called "dealer add-ons" You gotta read the fine print. My dad learned the hard way when he bought a Ford Explorer from Randall Noe Chrysler/Ford in Terrell, TX. Turns out, they were the only dealership in Texas to be federally indicted for misleading trade practices.
They'd advertise a bigger discount than all other dealerships. They were able to "beat" other dealers prices by $1000+ dollars but in the fine print, they would say "does not included dealer add ons". They never mentioned it when my dad was doing the paper work and he ended up paying $1500 for a bug deflector, scotch guarded seats, and pin stripe.

the reason this thread caught my eye,was because in 1966 or so,they were the place to go to in Columbus Georgia.I believe they were first based out of there. We had my brothers 61 fuely repaired/repainted there,wa a great job.We of course (as teenagers)stole the door pulls off another vette cause his were missing. The ( a sign of things to come?)a machanic there tried to swap my brother a dual 4 barrel set up for hi fuel injection system. He didnt do it.I also test drove a 66 chevy,BB,4speed,that was god awful fast.Couldnt get a loan on it...would have most likely killed myself in it. Man that thing was fast.

I went by the one here in Houston as I was bored after the hurricane and had no power. They wanted 10 grand over sticker for the "regular" corvettes and 30 grand over sticker for the Z06's. They said they would work with me on the price. That means the Z06 was $103,000 dollars.
