Default [PICS] After Hurricane...Why A Car Cover?...Unwrapped Is The Answer

I just got life back together after hurricane Gustav (dealing with Ike now).
I have a car cover.
an el-cheap-0 (less than 20 bucks), because stray cats think car covers are great scratching posts and always tear them up.

Anyway, uncovered the vette yesterday for a lil ride and even though the cover was littered with debris, all I had was a little bit of surface rust on the rotors, dust, and water spots on the rims...

Like the emblem?(rhetorical question)....nawwwww....I know most dont, but I do!
It gives it a lil something that is missing on the side. Its beveled to fit the contour perfectly.

I also customized some front and rear emblems.
I just didnt like the look of the C4 emblem, never have.

I did not wipe the car for the pics, ..seriously, I did NOT wipe a thing!
Ironically; when the wind blows the car cover around it actually dusts the surface....this is a must with black cars..
(Keep in mid. its always covered when clean, seldom gets dirty, just dusty if not covered)

I am gonna do a photo shoot with the car as soon as we recover from all these hurricanes...this car is another fine example of a well taken care of car (original except for motor and tranny swap...have the originals stored)....these are the only good pics I have of it, I will take some of the interior, full shots, ect... just to have.

So you have a C6 emblem on your C3 and a C2(?) emblem on your C4...I'm already confused!

Thanks...we are getting slammed right at this moment, plenty of toradoes floating around too.
So far; electricity is still on ...and car is covered!

So you have a C6 emblem on your C3 and a C2(?) emblem on your C4...I'm already confused
Nope...C3 emblems on the C3...all correct.
But, the exterior of the C4 has C2 emblems (crossed flags for a gas door) on the fenders and customized C5's...I think its for a C5, I dont remember....black oval with long crossed flags
Anyway on the C5's; I cut the oval "ring" off, and just used the crossed flags...I liked it cause it was black trim, I dont have pics...yet...if it wasnt storming I would post a pic.
I did NOT add or change any of them because I wanted to imitate a different model of car, I did it cause I liked the way they looked... just didnt like the look of the perfect straight "flag" lines of the C4 emblem or the circle.

Added note: the C2 emblem had a darker red which I liked, the C5 emblem had more of a brighter red which I wasnt wild about.

Back to the original topic; it just goes to show that it doesnt have to be a high dollar car cover.
Although if the car would sit exposed to direct weather/elements, I would have to buy a better, more durable cover.

I wonder if daily drivers cover their cars daily or if its too much of a hassle to cover and uncover each day.

Default A quick shot

Rain slowed to a drizzle.....soooooooooooo..........

I pulled a corner of the cover off for a pic...batteries dead in camera!!!

I ran in the house...

And of course; it started storming again while in the house.....waited a minute....ran back outside and snapped a pic, covered car.

Sheeesh!!!!.......The dumb things I do....LOL

(since I am hijacking my own thread )

I actually like the crossed flags above the fenders and have thought about doing the same thing. What year are they from?

I think its from 62, but definatly gas door emblems...the way to tell is; the top of the flags are thick, and the flag sticks are thin....thats the bevel I was talking/writing about.

I get all my stuff from my buddy Kevin at corvette south dot com.

Nice car, dont like the wrong emblems
Sorry......but I did leave the valve cover emblem and all other badging original.

Unfortunately keeping the cover on in 90mph winds was a problem here.

Thankfully I parked it in an area without trees or alot of possible debris.

I don't cover either of mine and I have two covers. I think in the last 9 years I've covered both cars a total of 4 times.

Yeah, the cover has grommets on each side...I use ratcheting tie-downs...I
If not, it would blow away...and there is nothing more a PITA than going get the dadgum car cover out of the ditch...ask me how I know!

My brother keeps a cover on his car year round but he used to use bungy cords across the bottom holding it down. About five years ago in a bad storm the whole cover twisted around and as the wind blew the bungy cords scratched his paint really bad. Thank god it was not a corvette just a mustang.

Typically I'm not a guy who likes incorrect emblems, flares, GS stripes,etc....

I like your choices, however!

Cain't tell ya why, I just DO!
