Sweet Mary mother of Jesus..... putting your top back on after installing new door, targa and B pillar WS is a pain... now I have to get a new A pillar perhaps I can borrow an elephant to sit on the top after that. A pillar ordered via willcox - thanks Eddy

Eddy,

You should re-adjust your top! Or leave it a little loose for the first few days, then crank it down a little more every few days. This will allow it to seat properly. Trying to crank it down instantly may result in a crack if you are not careful.

Yack is not a sound you want to hear. The top should settle down in a few days.

looks like my Willcox A Pillar will be here this weekend. I went ahead and pulled the old WS off today. I had the windshield replaced about 4 years ago and they did a awful job sealing the old piece. one side was caked with black silicone or some kind of tar like product 0 the other side had very little. I unscrewed the trim pieces so I can clean the tracks better and paint the trim. Should I silicone everything under and around the trim before I put the new A pillar in? Or should I just secure the new piece with plenty of adhesive and let it do its job?

Don’t silicone the pillar retainers, they are adjustable. Once you know where they are going to be I guess you can silicone them. They originally had a flat ribbon seal between them and the windshield frame.

If you silicone them now, you will not be able to adjust the pillar weatherstrip if needed.
