Default Yesterday a brand new Mustang GT Really impressed me !!!!

Yesterday i was standing next to a Ford Dealer and there was standing a nice red brand new Mustang,i wish i had my 87 in that excellent mint condition,i know that's possible,so i asked the guy,is that a V8 in there ? and with a proud grin he replied, yes it is.-
i looked inside, and its really really nice, the salesman came back with the keys, started it and went away, and then i was really really impressed.-
It was an automatic, from the revs i heard,he put mid throttle or more, and the car got away really slow, but the revs were kind of high, with that RPM's my 87 would be sideways smoking the rear tires like an animal,i was really impressed with the lack of power i saw
yesterday,damn,what's going on here ? am i wrong ?

Default mustang

My daughters boyfriend (he is 24 BTW) just bought a brand new Shelby. I warned her about getting in the car. I said "dont do it". I knew she would become an addict. She wants one now.

She said the funniest thing. " Some dude signed his name on the dash." LOL

People claim to get mid 13's out of the GT's when stock. I have yet to see one run that well at the track. Most run a low 14 second 1/4 mile.

I saw an 05 running 13.7's compared to my 13.8's. All I could tell was he had a cat back system. They can run! As I once heard, you can make a pig fast, but in the end it's still a pig.

I usually see them run low 14's or high 13's at the track. Not bad but not that great either.

The 3v 4.6 definitely has to be run a lot higher in the RPM's than the LT1 does, but it seemed to be starting to wake up just before I shifted. Run like you hate them, I'm sure they can put down decent times, but the techniques that will be required to get those times will be only slightly less destructive than those you have to use to get magazine times out of a WRX.

What really bugged me about it, though, getting into it cold, was a very light clutch compared to my '93 'Vette and '97 C1500. I could probably get used to it with time, but it's not my preference.

Hey, the kids shelby is dark blue metalic with silver shelby stripes. Black leather interior. It hauls a$$ too. I like it more that my C4. Its OK to like more than 1 style car.

My '07 Mustang GT (5 speed, all stock) is way quicker than my 91 Vette (Auto, all stock). Ive not had either one on a track to post any times, but i can certainly say the Stang pins me in the seat much much harder than the Vette.

A standard always "feels" faster. IMO it's who's at the finish line first that counts. I've seen many of them running in the 1/4, auto and stick. Almost all of them low 14's. Maybe they respond well to mods. I have a friend who recently bought a shelby GT. I'll have to get him to the track for a few runs.

i guess the Shelby its the top of the line ? Maybe that's powerful.-
i also thing L98's low end torque has the faster effect that the GT i saw lacked...

My cousin just bought a 2008 Shelby Gt 500 Mustang and I can assure you it ain't slow.
In fact I called him out to race at a 1.7 mile road course and the 1/8 mile.
All I need is a rear tire change for the road course.
He has the power advantage 500 to my 450 but I have the built tranny and the Dana 44 w/3.73 gears .
I have C 5 upgrade on the brakes.
He is a muscle car collector so it's going to require a bunch of badgering like " is that thing a real car or like the others " " something to look at ".
That should eventually do the trick.
I did go for a ride and Carrol doesn't have to be ashamed of them.

Yes, .040 over. When it was .030 over I ripped the top of two pistons off. On one of the cylinders it put a ding in the wall that we would have had to hone out to about .037" just to clean up, and obviously it wouldn't have sealed so since I was buying new pistons anyhow we went to .040"..

Finding a turbo/blower inverse dome piston with a lowered ring in .040" isn't easy. Had to use a 383 piston, and a longer rod (5.850") to make it work.
