Default Rocking the crossfire hard.

With all this talk of carbs and going to TPI and LSX installs, how many 84 owners are still rocking the crossfire? And how many are still stock? I'm thinking the few stock ones left should go up in value one day.

That is like asking who still has a straight six Nova. If they will ever be worth anything it will be LONG after I am dead.

They've turned the corner as far as the price bottoming out is concerned. As for being high dollar cars-it'll depend on the condition and the buyer. One with Bloomington Gold certs will probably bring fair bucks in the not so distant future. Worth a bit more than a Nova 6 just because it's a Vette.

Not to mention, the CFI isn't bad-just generally misunderstood. Lotsa urban myth. A proprly tuned stock car will top 140mph and turn 15.3 or so in the quarter. Ported intake and 1.6-1 rockers will wee it to the low 14's. A torque converter in the auto cars wil then get it into the 13's. Want more? A set of 180cc intake heads and a Crane 2040 will push it even quicker. Still maintaing the stock CFI set-up.

My 84 with 86,000 miles is completely stock and when a part gets worn out or breaks, I have replaced it with ac/delco parts. I like things the way they were designed to be. I hope those engineers over at GM are smarter than I am in the Corvette area.

Nothing wrong with that Some of us like to get a bit more out of our combos than others . More hp is always good and too much is never enough

My dad and I are bringing an 84 back from the dead. We are keeping it as stock as possible. Well, Maybe ported intake and a few other tricks in the future.

I feel that pulling off the CFI system in lieu of a Carb is not really advancing.

If you think a plunger driven by a cable with wacky linkage is better than the electronically controlled Piezo activated injector system....we seriously need to to have a talk....

Dual Carbs=really cool ****!!!

Dual injectors needs to be replaced to be cool.......not.

My Crossfire sits atop a Xram manifold. The last owner who put this car together claims he surprised many a L98 owner? CFI EFI who has a ported manifold on his crossfire (and if I got my facts straight) runs 13s all day long at the track.

Still have the stock Crossfire in mine. Going strong at 85,000 miles. I love the look of the Crossfire when you open the clamshell too.

Mine is still stock and will remain that way. I don't have any complaints as far as power or anything, and the 27MPG isn't to hateful either..

I still have the crossfire set-up, just ported the intake to make it breath a little better. don't care about keeping it stock, I want a ride I'm happy with so the Blose had to go, as did the Airpump, and breadbox

As far as porting goes, did you notice a major gain? I'm thinking on buying a used one and port it over the winter. Are all crossfire intakes the same? Or is the 84 vette special? I found one fron an 82 vette.

Noticed a SOP gain on the mid to top end. I did the same thing, bought a used one on ebay and ported over the winter, the intakes are the same.

I've got two 84's
Mine which is modified a bit with 69k and the wifes all stock with 221,000 miles runs perfect and she uses it any chance she gets.

I would assume that a ported intake done correctly would give you close to a 40hp gain. I have documented the gain I got from changing to the x-ram which was a total of 36hp.

I'm running 2 84's also.

One is stock engine, Richmond 6-speed and a bunch of appearance and chasis mods. Has 123K miles. Runs perfect and is a daily driver. I drive it hard and have run it at Road America a few times. I bought it with 50k miles 10 years ago and have never had to work on the engine except for starters, alt and a few gaskets. Runs 14.7 in the 1/4.

Two is a stock engine with 99k miles. It gets driven a lot and driven mildly hard. Stock modded auto trans with a shift kit. Z-51 suspension and optional 3.07 rear end. Bought it with 80k miles 6 years ago and again have never had to work on the engine except for the steering system. Ran 14.2 in the 1/4

I love both of them and they are very reliable.

Anyone can say what they want, but both of my Crossfires run perfect!!

I have the last crossfire they made for 84. I bought it a couple years ago. did a couple 1/4 mile runs using a Gtech G meter and it says 14.4 in the 1/4 mile. It appears stock. I am planning on doing the non visible mods this winter. I can only hope it has some value to someone in the future. Until then My wife and I are enjoying the heck out of driving it. As it should be.

That is a 7.4L TBI on Holley Projection manifold. Alternative to ported crossfire or XRam.
