Default Just had the coolant flushed on my 94 by my mechanic

And when I got home tonight, when I turned the car off in my driveway, I noticed there was a gurgling sound that seemed to be coming from the upper fill tank. Is that normal? I assume it's boiling coolant or something.

Your mechanic may not have burped it. Do that and refill it.

Like these guys have said, it may need to be burped, and it usually has to be run and cooled down a few times for the radiator to suck in coolant and be completely full...WW

What grade (K-12?) is your mechanic in?

Next time drill a few holes in the rim of the thermostat and no burping required.

At least put a 160 in it. The thermostat serves double duty. The car needs to be at a certain temp to run well. On cooler days your call will never warm up.

Not sure, but my mechanic seemed to know more about LT1's than I do. He knew about burping it, bleeding it, and letting it run a while to get all the bubbles out. I didn't exactly take this to a shack in the down town projects. This place is probably the most reputable mechanic where I live (has hands down the best facilities IMO-some places around here look like a rusted shack with a dirt floor that a stiff wind would blow over).

Bleeding the air out is a simple thing to do and get it right the first time. Lost count how many times I have done it. I run the recommended 180 stat with no additional holes.

I assume that your temp gauges are normal since you did not mention it.

Two things you can check. When cold, open the tank and see if it appears to be full. It should not look empty at all. The second is monitor the over flow tank. Check it cold and hot, (use dip stick) and do it a couple of cycle times to see if the results are the same.
