Hey Guys,
I'm stuck in plano texas with a C4 I just bought. I need to transport this vehicle to Denver Colorado. How can I do this? How much? I checked Penske truck rentals, and they don't have a car transporter for a corvette? Please help me brainstorm. As always, thanks guys!

I trailered my 87 on a U-Haul trailer once. You will have to remove the 3 front air dam pieces before loading it up. And you will need a 4' extension for the ramps. I used an eight foot 2x8 cut in half.

You may find a forum member in the regional section that will let you park the C4 at his house then you can hire one of the various car shipping companies to fetch it next week.

I'm pretty ignorant on this type of stuff but did a Google and came up with this quote for 695. What's wrong with the car? That's a long freaking ways.

Transporters usually want cars that run since these cars are shipped to warehouses and usually must be juggled around. PRICE should not be the major issue. Usually the cheaper the price the longer you wait for your vehicle since you will be dealing with a broker and a shipper everyone getting a cut of the pie. Your best bet may be finding a local mechanic who can repair you car and then drive it home yourself.

Well, it hasn't run in about 2 years. The person who I bought it from got it running so I flew down to pick it up and drive it back. What happened is the water pump is bad and the distributor got wet. Now I can get it started although it runs rough, but as soon as I put it in drive, it stalls out. Ugggh!!!

Since you are on the computer do a search for corvettes plano tx. You will find some useful local info, including Lonestar Corvette Club and Young Chevrolet. It would be cheaper to get some local help, or even get it fixed, than to pay to have it towed to wherever you are trying to get to.

I agree there has to be someone close in the Vette Club that can help or at least give you the name of a good repair shop.

When you go to rent a car trailer do not tell them its a corvette. Tell them it is something else.

what year is the car? Due to the "dist cap" getting wet I would guess a LT-1 motor? Either way I would imagine it would be faster and cheaper to get it fixed there and get back on the road. You might even be able to get away with drying out the opti BUT if you are there I would change it.

I'm currently in the process of getting a C4 shipped PA->Den,CO using these guys: www.angelstransport.com. They haven't shipped my car yet (in process) but looked good in online reviews.They broker deal with trucks all over the place and if you're lucky there is a truck that is close by they could prob do it at short notice. Based on what I'm being charged I'm thinking they would charge $500-$1000 for TX. I believe they do inoperational vehicles for an additional $150 winch fee.

Just another option to throw into the mix. Good to see another Vette heading to Denver . Best of luck.

Hope you find someone that can help you fix the car where it is. A new WP and opti and you should be good to go.It can be done in a driveway in about 6hrs if you hit it hard and have someone who has done one to help. It will cost about the same as shipping it so you will save 1/2 the cost of shipping and fixing it at home. Good Luck

I agree with the majority here, probably goin' to be easier/cheaper to have fixed, rather than tow.

Dallas has a local corvette club, surely one of those guys will step up to the plate. I'm 4 1/2 hours away, but if you can't find any body else to help, give me a shout. Me and my pal don't have anything to do today.

WD-40, sprayed on,and in, the dist.cap,will work wonders. That will get you up and running. get the water pump fixed.

Get it fixed and drive it. Probably cheaper than a shipper.
Take a day out of your life and enjoy Plano. And then you get to drive it!
That's the point, driving it!

I helped to load an 88 vert that I sold last Spring onto a U-Haul with zero problems and no removal of front air dam. The guy who bought it wisely decided to haul it back home instead of driving it since the tires were pretty tired and inclement weather was on the way.
