Color opinions needed
Thinking of repainting my plenum, runners and valve covers. I'm thinking of possibly painting them Silver Blue Metallic, same as car. I have a whole spray can sitting around. I painted them standard silver on the last project and the valve covers are turning darker already. Any thoughts ?

Thats what I was wondering. I don't know if the proper prep would help. The heat factor concerns me. I think it would look nice, but how long before the paint fails ?

There's a guy with a yellow C4 L98 who painted the plenum yellow and the runners black. I like that. For you, the paint the plenum silver blue, and the runners black.
Oh and yes, high heat or engine paint.

Check with an auto paint supplier to see what they may have or suggest. SEM has a number of high-heat paint colors but they are typically only found at auto paint supply shops.
Pontiac used a silver-blue metallic color on their V-8 engines in the mid 70's (there were two diffeent shades of blue used so look for the one you want). Don't know how close that would be to what you want, but that Pontiac color is available from Krylon as an high-heat engine paint and can be found at most any of the chain auto parts stores.
The big issue with the valve covers is that they are magnesium and not all aluminum. You should have the covers cleaned using some sort of media blasting to get them clean. Glass-beading can smooth them out some and make the finished paint look better.
Try an auto paint supplier to see if they have a high-heat primer to use on the valve covers. The plenum and runners are aluminum and should not be bothered as much by heat.

I presently got the high heat aluminum color, the plenum still looks good . The valve covers are going crappy. Does the magnesium cause this ? I got a Dupont paint place on my route and I will ask them about a high heat color.

Wondering what a Duplicolor blue castmetal would look like. The lid color is painted over chrome, I would be painting it over a stock grey color. Kinda hard to tell if it will be too dark.
