Can I borrow your vette?
Just wondering how many of you have had that one thrown at ya before. A friend or maybe, a co-worker has approached you with the old - like to take my girlfriend out Saturday night in it. Iv'e been asked by some friends before but managed to skate around it without tickin them off. I'd never loan it out - would you??

I think Chevy built the Vette that low to the ground just so people wouldn't ask. No one has asked yet, but the answer would be no.

No. Only bad things can happen and ruin a friendship.

So verrrrrrrry true.
I've only let my oldest son borrow my Vette, because he is a responsible type. Everyone else; I just give them a blank look and then start laughing. They get the message...

Leave a 25k deposit and knock yourself out.
Seriously, NFW. You know they are gonna beat on it and we all know what happens when C4s start to slide a bit and
"snap" to whichever direction they decide to head. That usually happens a lot faster than most of us can react to and hello curb.
Must be something wrong with me, rather have the car.

I would let my best friend and his wife borrow it. Our friendship is more important than a car. BTW they refuse to even drive it around the block.

the only person allowed to drive my car beside me is my dad. I only let one other person drive it and I was riding with him, and it was a short ride around the block.

People have borrowed my car at the track and I lent my car out to a buddy for two weeks while his vette was being fixed.
No big deal as long as they know that if they break it, they've bought it.
Now my Power Wagon, I won't let anyone drive that.

good one!
I've traded vettes for a day with one of my friends waaay back when we both owned C3's, his was luxury & mine was rude & crude....it's funny how the grass always looks greener in the other yard. It was an eye opening test drive, to say the least.
Forgot, I've never had anyone ask to borrow my vette though.

The rule I learned from my Vette Buddy was "only another Vette owner can drive one of mine." He's driven my C4 and C3 a few times. I'm embarrassed to say that he drove my C4 to his shop one morning (he's a service manager) and called 30 minutes later to tell me that I had been running on 6 1/2 cylinders (one melted and one half melted plug wire). I hadn't had the car very long and figured that's what a C4 should feel like. :o Sure was more fun to drive with all 8 cylinders working!
I tried to drive his 78 once and that's how I learned that a 6'3" guy cannot have a C3 with power seats since my head was crunched up against the T-top. The manual tracks are about an inch lower, so that was OK. That's how I chose my 76.
