2004 z06 -- leaving for a few months
Hello all and happy new year!
I am going away on a business trip and most likely won't be getting back to my house while I"m away. My 2004 z06 will be "stuck" in the garage. I have nice neighbors that offered to start it here and there but what should I be doing to keep my car in good condition for that length of time? MIght even be longer so I need to plan for at least 4 months just in case.
thanks!
Mark

4 mos is no big deal. Bettery tender if you think sitting may drain it down and park it, nothing else. I sat mine for a year, threw a new battery in it, fired it up and drove it old gas and all.

Your in the wrong section,
Put a battery tender on it.
Fill gas tank and add sta-bil (not 100% neccessary)
That should be all.

4 months storage is not really that long of a period of time.
Fill the tank with good brand name gas(Stabil optional).
Make sure the oil has been changed recently.
Have a decent cover to keep the dust and condensation off the car.
If the neighbor can reposition the car once during the stay so it sits on a different part of the tire, that is not a bad idea. Just make sure he understands it doesn't take a 40 or 50 mile ride to do that
That's really all that is necessary for a short period of stoarge. You will suffer worse by not being able to drive it. I have 2 under covers right now and I am watching it snow (again) in Chicago. Pray for April to come quick.

OK...thanks
I also read that mice and some rodents like to chew on iginition wires so might be a good idea to put some rags in the pipes and intake valve. Does this seem reasonable? seems like a fire hazard to me if someone starts the car and doesn't realize they are there
sorry wasnt sure which section. i chose GENERAL for the forum

hehe...yes not being able to drive it is the biggest downfall but driving it on ice and snow is even worse
and yeah...the neighbor? offered to "move" it hehe...but not 40 or 50 miles hehe

How is the moisture in your area? I stored mine for three months in the garage under cover and when I opened it I found mold on my dash, seats and gearshift ****. Spent 4 hours cleaning it up, then bought some Desiccant containers that absorb moisture. Never had the problem since then.

well...during the winter...I have it stored in Kansas. so there is moisture. with the snow and all. just cold. I think the trickle charger is a great idea. do i need to remove the battery from the car to use this?

so where do i put the sheets? on the engine or on the inside? do i need to put anything in the tail pipes?
