Default Broken Rear Window Defroster Wire

While cleaning the inside of the hatch window on my 92, I broke the wire that connects to the defroster grid. I mostly drive the Vette on weekends and have rarely used he defroster in the 2 years that I've owed the Vette. Butttttt, it st bother me that it is broken. Don't want to solder it, afraid I will shatter the hatch.

Has anyone ever heard or used any type of electrically conductive expoxy ?

Thanks,
Al

The FSM has the repair listed and I am sure the Chevy Parts Dept has the materials needed.

I have heard of a kit you can buy to reattach those tabs,if that's what your talking about. And yes it is like a epoxy but it has silver,or something in it to make it conductive.Try a search.

Just happened on mine, though I took it down to the local windshield shop and they used the silver epoxy to glue it back on for $40. Here is a site that might help:

Do not solder you can ruin the foil and possibly crack the glass.

Really, I have NOT tried on my vette, but I had 2 S10 Blazers where the wire fell off the braiding on the glass.

I soldered wires to the braiding on the glass and never had any issues.

The wires broke off my 90 as well, I plan on soldering them on to the braiding

I guess I should say you can potentially ruin the foil and crack the glass, many have soldered it and gotten great results as you have. The epoxy takes the risk out of it and as expensive as back glass is, it just is not worth it to me. just my .02
