1989 wheel cap lock
those of you that have the 88 or 89 wheels that have the center caps on them with that little screw that you have to have a "key" to get off.... what would it take to get a new key when one gets lost
I tried to search this and had a really hard time comming up with a definitive answer and supposedly there is a # for this key?? If thats true where to I find said #?

They were made by McGuard our of New York State.
If you happen to have the paper slip with the key number ... just order a new key, if not.... you have a problem that will likely result in the bolt being destroyed to remove it.

Talk to customer service and explain to them you purchased a 89 Corvette and didn't get the puzzle key lock removal tool which they made for GM. Tell them you contacted GM and they no longer support the product. Be persistant because some of the customer service reps. will say they can't help you.
You can fax them or e-maill them a picture of the puzzle lock and for a small fee they will send you the proper removal tool.

When the key wore out Mcgard set me a new one for free. They needed the number from it though. You might have to take a picture of the shape of the key bolt for them.

McGards is the best. I ordered a new key for 14.00, but I had the key number. May be a little difficult without a number. I'm sure they may be able to help you though.

I don't remember it was the lock or the key on mine 88, but I have the number on the key so they just sent me a new one after I mailed them my old one.
