How many people caught the Corvette bug from their parents?
Now that the Vette has been out for two to three generations of people, I'm wondering who else caught the need to own a Corvette from their relatives?
The reason why I ask is because my 63 year old dad has owned three Corvettes - a '65 327-365 hp Nassau blue coupe, a '81 blue coupe (that my parents brought me home from the hospital in), and an '84 red coupe that is still in perfect condition today.
Because of that, and going to Bloomington Gold, Corvette Funfest, the Assembly Plant/Museum, etc., I'm on my second Corvette in just 26 years of life and I'm marrying a girl who has a Vette of her own...
Is there anyone else out there like me?

Only one previous in my family was my dad with a 65 Coupe 327/350 motor. He sold it while he was in college. After going through two myself he picked up another C6.

My dad and uncle have owned dozens but since i was born they haven't had any. But in order for me to drive one i have a feeling it helped that they used to.

My dad was obsessed with Corvettes as a kid, when we moved to the states and he bought the '85 that I now own, I became obsessed with them. I definitely caught it from my dad.

No one in my family were into cars. My dad always used to say Corvettes attracted guys, girls didn't care what it was as long as it was new/shiney/expensive!

I was born in '84, my dad bought an '85 in '86 with 2000 miles on it. I grew up with that car. When I was a junior in highschool, I borrowed it for a weekend. One of the most fun weekends ever. I traded my (then) car for my '91 and besides the problems I've caused myself in the more-horsepower quest, I've loved every minute of it.

Nope..From the time I was a young kid my father tried to discourage me from hotrods in general, he saw what path I was headed down. God forbid you own something thats impractical

My dad worked for the General at the Inland plant in Vandalia, OH making dashboards, seat cushions and steering wheels until he retired after 25 years.
His vans always had either a Camaro or Corvette steering wheel on them in the 70's (fell off the truck, obviously ).
To this day he is loyal to the brand and after my short detour with a nice F-150, which I traded in for my 96', I am back in the bowtie fold.
So long answer, yes, although my dad never owned a vette. Thank you dad.

Dad bought the 88 in my avatar back in '89 with under 20k miles. I bought it off him last year with 79k miles in great condition. I always liked that car since I was small. I am into TAs and Camaros too, I guess because I couldn't afford the Vettes, but I still like them. Had a 84, 82 TA an 88 RS, and a 96 WS6. When I come back from over seas I plan on purchasing a low mileage 01-04 Z06 and doing some work to it. That will be my 2nd vette in 3 years =) I also would be interested in getting a 96 LT4 down the road.

My dad bought his first Vette wrecked from my uncle when i was about 5 years old, it was a 69 vert. Afew years later he traded the family car , 76 Buick, for a 72 coupe. We were a family of four with two Vettes. Shortly after he did buy mom a four seater. When my older brother turned 16 he was able to drive either of the two Vettes and Dad eventually gave him the 72 coupe.
When I was 16, my parents bought me a 74 vert that was in pieces, body off of the frame ,no front clip no motor etc.. Dad and I worked on it for a while and sold it. My parents then bought me my "dream car," a red on red 84 Vette. This was in 1988. She traded her 1985 Caddy in for me to have the Vette. It wasn't until later in life that I realized the sacrifices they made for me and my brother. Anyway, I now own that 84 again and will never part with it.
dad and I buy and sell some Vettes, together we have owned 20 Vettes, with 5 of those being my daily drivers and 5 of those being his daily drivers. My brother has also owned several, so it is definitely a family affair.

When I was a kid, there weren't any Vettes until I was 9 years old. My parents lived through the depression and owning a Corvette never entered their minds. My Dad was mechanically inclined and taught me a lot of what I know. The rich kids had Corvettes when I was in high school. My 57 Chevy was all I could afford, I wish I still had it. My brother-in-law bought a 67 vert with the 427 and he let me drive it a lot. This is where my love for the Corvette came from.

My Dad drove a car for basic transportaton only. The first wax job given to our '67 Galaxie 500 was when I turned 16 and got the car. DO NOT lemon pledge a vinyl bucket seat...... The coolest thing he and I did was convert the 'three on the tree' to a Hurst on the floor. I had fun until the frame rotted and broke. I always admired a vette. My shop teacher owned a '69 small block. Dad considered fiberglass too dangerous in event of a crash. With all the tanks on the road back then he was probably right.

I totally got the bug from my dad. He would point them out to us all the time with a big grin. We would go to car shows and races. He had a love for vettes as long as I have known him. Finally after 40 years he got his first, a beautiful blue 76. He tweaked on it and did different things, had us out there sanding on it for months. When things were somewhat put together he got a deal on an 86 and sold the 76 to my older brother. Just recently I bought the 86 from him. Now its my project . I have absolutely always wanted one, but never thought that it would be possible. I don't know if the C4 market being low is a curse or a blessing. I should mention that my uncle has a 74 too. He has had a couple. Once its in the blood, you can't get it out.

My father got me into them. He always wanted to own one when i was a kid and in 2002 he finally purchased the '94. Unfortunately he passed away this past June, I have decided to keep the car and make it as nice as he would have wanted it to be
