Water wetter, awsome or junk?
What is your opinion on water wetter and other coolant additives? I've asked around to a lot of people, corvette owners, and techs, and just random people. Some people swear by it and others say its a waste of money and its junk.
I know you guys know C4's best so I thought id get the real answer by asking your opinions.
Thanks,
Craig

I run 1 gallon of anti freeze, 2 bottles of water wetter and the rest distilled water in my 93...the more water the better when using this stuff...I can't say it's made a huge improvement but it hasn't hurt any either...

I use it with Dexcool in my 95. I really can't tell whether it makes a difference as I added it after gave the cooling system a flush. Things are definitely cooler but think it has more to do with the cleaning than with the Water Wetter. I don't think it's a "miracle" additive but I can't see that it does any harm and for $7.50.... I think it's more important to flush and change you cooling system regularly. I'm doing mine now every year. Seems silly that we change oil religiously every 3000 miles yet try and get 100,000 out of the cooling system.
Here's a good link on Water Wetter http://e30m3performance.com/myths/mo...ter_wetter.htm

I have t ried it in two of my cars with no change in running temp at all. I use a 50/50 mix of anti freeze and distilled water.

Why is that? Cuz water is a better coolant than anti-freeze.
Of course the downside is rust, lots of it, and it never sleeps.
If you use it with a 50/50 mix its a waste of money.
70/30 might work in So Cal, but not Montana.
Coolant is an engineered product. The days before coolant were not good.

This is the way I ran it but added a can of rust inhibitor. Worked very well.
There are products out now that claim to work as well or better than WW that also protect the cooling system. Not antifreeze. I have not tried one.

''water wetter'' is a ''surfactant''...reduces surface tension and does improve heat transfer....dozens of compounds, most organic, in minute concentration, will do this... most commercially marketed anti-freeze has already included a surfactant, read the label.

I may be wrong here, but I would always run 50/50. Another function of anti-freeze is to lube the water pump. I think that anti-freeze will also reduce electrolisys on the metal radiators. Just my 2 cents.

Actually I heard something about some drag cars not using coolant as well. I guess it would make sense to some degree since they're only racing for a few seconds. I do know that in some classes of track racing they're not allowed to use coolant.
