Default Headlight problem

I'm sure this was discussed before, but I can't find what I'm looking for.

One of my headlamp is stuck open. Now, they were working perfectly, they were perfectly synchronised. Motor seemed strong and all of a sudden, stopped working without warning. Before changing the motor, what can be other problems and how can I check this? I'm a very average mechanic.

can you manually close that headlight by turning the ****? What year is your C4. I just changed my rollers, both sides were shot. This seems to be the cause of 90% of the problems. Could be a problem with the motor too, but I am guessing on that.

okay, now, I rolled the broken one back manually (It's the driver side). When I turn the lights on, it goes back up perfectly. But then, it will only come back down manually. So the motor must be okay... any idea?
THe other one is perfect.

There is at least one thread a week on this and it is always the bushings
A search should turn up about 1000 hits
Pretty easy fix

Not on an 86, it was somewhere around 88 when they changed designs.
Lange, troubleshoot it with the link I gave you.

I'd say check the wiring too, my last one did almost the same thing but in reverse and I had to re-soder a wire.

One of mine was bad also. Repaired it yesterday. Bushings were gone. Looked like grated cheese. Mid America has them for about $6 bucks. Watch the motor when you work the headlight switch. The **** on top will turn, but the headlight will not.

I purchased my vette about a month ago. I had mine apart yesterday to check the bushings. They are brand new. Next, I took the cover off the motor, cleaned everything with some contact cleaner then tried again. The motor doesn't turn at all. I put on a used control module I purchased and still no luck. I hooked the light to the passenger side and still no luck. The passenger side works.

I guess the motor is just shot??? If so, I guess the best bet is to get one from Ecklers?? Also, I can turn it up and down manually. Mine is an 88 vette L98.

Thanks for any input.
