Should I take my Vette on a 5 hour drive to south Florida
I might go to see my parents over the Thanksgiving holiday. I would like to take my vette. I have only had it a few months and my Dad would love to see it. It's a good 5 to 6 hour drive. Should I drive it or stick to my other car? I don't know how a vette holds up to 6 straight hours on the road. The last thing I need is to break down in Hooterville. What do you think?

Drive it, I drive mine from NJ to Tampa at least twice a year (1100 miles one way).
These cars were meant to be driven.

Drive it! I bought mine in Michigan on July 6, drove around MI for a few days and then drove non-stop 1400mi (19hrs) to Colorado. It's great on the road. You will have a blast and your Dad will love to see it.

Wow, how can you even question this? Just be careful, if you make it down here to South Fla in less than 5 hours, too much WOT :) :) This area is lousy with vetts, especially the non-waver C5 guys :smash: :smash: Friday nights at Tower Shops usually have about 150-200 cars, with about 20 or so corvette cars. If you need directions email me, I live right next to Hooterville :D :D :D

I think we have a bunch of Viper and Saleen owners who have invaded the Forum :smash:
Troy, can you run a security check?
He failed to mention his other car, the one he thought would stand up to the rigors of a six hour drive.

Thanks Guys... Pembroke Pines... I worked for the City of Miramar years ago. I lived in N Miami just north of Miami Gardens Drive and just east of 441. My parents live in Hallendale along with 100's of other over 80 folks. They have a condo on the ocean and it's a great place to get away. I'll see what happens.

I'll trade you my 89. It would go to Florida and you could continue on to N'orleans, then to Vegas, might as well hit LA then the north coast, back across to the plains and home easily. Of corse I would expect you would change the oil every 3,000 or so.
Are you kidding?

.....to break down in Hooterville.
Seriously, drive the car! I drove 17 hours straight to BG only stopping to fill up for gas. I'm serious. 1100 miles straight and the car never even though about overheating once. Then I spent 2 days there and drove another 17 hours back. Same thing, no issues. There was lots of 100+mph in there also. :reddevil

Drive it. Took mine from Michigan to New York via Ohio(7+ hrs each way) and back. Find a group that has a fuzz buster as a leader and hang in the middle. If you are alone be smart.

I noticed you're from Lakewood, and, there seems to be a dealer in Lakewood that runs good Corvette used prices. Is there on dealer there who stands out ? I'm about 90 minutes away in Cherry Hill.
