C4 to C5 bodykit
well i´m gonna be honest, as some have seen... my nick has "GT" yes, i'm a stang man, buuut i´m in the middle of trading one of my stangs for a vette, its an 84 (posted in classifieds) but i found this on the net
http://www.autodirectsave.com/prod/C...version/18228#
So that would be a nice thing to do to the car, like i said i´m a ford guy but a vette is a vette and i have a thing for C5+ so if someone has done this and can give me a hand on cons and pros it would be awesome
thanks

I'm sorry, but the C5 upgrade on a C4 just doesn't look right to me. If you want to do it, go for it. I have to laugh everytime I see one of these cars for sale. The 91-96 bumper upgrade on the 84-90 is hard enough and not really worth it in the long run.
IMO, it will drop the overall resale on the car. If I wanted the C5 look, I would save up the money for a C5. The 97-99 can easily be gotten for 13-19K with high miles.

1. Your mustang will probably smoke a c4.
2. Putting a c5 kit on a c4 is Ghey, expensive, and stupid.
3. If you want a c5 then buy one. Other wise buy a c4 and enjoy it for what is is.. After all its a vette not a Rustang.

There is atleast one of these posts per week about the body kit, using the search will provide you with a lot of info.

Unless you run a body shop, just buying a c5 will be cheaper in the long run. The kit runs what, 3-4 grand, then your probably looking at least that to get the kit to fit, plus you still have to paint it. So if I had to estimate: $4,000 for car + $3,000 kit + $3,000 body work + $3,000 paint = $13,000 or the same as a 97-98 C5.

1st off, I kinda like the conversion, but...for the time and $$ you'll put into the conversion, (even if you do most of the work yourself) i'ts likely not worth it, For the cost of the car, the kit and any other $$ you have to spend on paint and such, you could probably buy a medium to higher mileage base C5 then start working on or modding it
You'll reduce the value of the C4 (whatever that may be?) and still not have a C5.
I just don't see it as a way of accomplishing your C5 goal or saving money

Those conversions are just a really bad compromise between the two in my opinion. Get one or the other.
Now go sell that GT

The proportions of the car after it is converted don't look right. The hood of the C4 is a lot longer and shaped different than a real C5 and it ends up looking like a C4/C5 hybrid afterwards, not a C5 clone. Look at a picture of a real C5 next to the converted C4 and you will see the proportions are way off. That conversion would only look good in my opinion if they also included a C5 like hood which most don't. Only someone who is truly nieve about corvettes would think it is a genuine C5. If it were me I would either purchase one that has already been done (if you like the look) or wait for the C5s to depreciate more (which they will) until one you like falls into your price range.

You could always do the trade, and familiarize yourself with a Vette for awhile til youre in a better position. By then C5s will be dirt cheap and youll have owned a Vette in the meantime.

As far as body kits though, I always liked the idea of using a Tiger Shark style front end on a C4. I prefer the smoother edges of the late C4's and C5's myself.
I like the rear of the early C4's for thier rounded lights and concaved back.
A friend on mine placed a C5 front on his 87 and it looks great. Very original

There was a silver C5 for sale for $15K at a local used car lot I see every day while driving to work. It sold in 2 days!
There is now a silver C4 with that C5 conversion kit on it. Same whells and all too I believe as the C5. They want $9K for it.
It's been sitting there for a month and a half now. Nobody wants it.
BTW, it just looks funny in person. YOu see it and because of the hood and windshield you know something just isn't quite right. The first time I saw it it was obvious, nobody was being fooled.

As I mentioned, I like the sleeker front end and I wish tere were something out here other than changing to the later C4 bumper, to slightly change the appearance of thes early model brick front ends
But if you really want the C5 styling, I agree with everyone else, save your pennies and get the C5
You'll be better off in the long run
