Default Car Cover in the Washing Machine?

Hi everyone,

Just bought a 'Back East' cotton car cover for my 96 LT4 from a fellow forum member.

I'm assuming that I can throw this thing in the washing machine just like any other cotton article? And the dryer?

But I just wanted to make sure so that I don't ruin it.

Also, should I perhaps not use a detergant in the washing machine, or very little to avoid residue or build-up on the cover that would then transfer to the car? Am I better to simply run it on a rinse cycle?

Thanks!

Is this an indoor or outdoor cover? I would think that a cotton cover that's reasonably light weight could be washed in a home washer using a mild detergent. The Noahs that I use on my cars are a kind of mid to heavy weight indoor/outdoor cover that can only be washed in a commercial washer without an agitator using a little Simple Green in the wash.

I had a Wolfe car cover in the past and if I remember correctly the instructions said not to dry it. Just line dry.
I washed it in just plain water in the big washer at the laundrymat.
Maybe you could find the manufactures website and see if they have cleaning instructions posted?

I have a indoor cover that I machine wash. I just line dry it though. You should be fine.

I would not put one in a dryer. They are usually quite hot and the cover might shrink. Then you have a Vette shaped Yogo cover

Wolf instructions say no machine wash but its not a cotton cover.
