A set of metric Gearwrenches has been a god-send. The 10mm one has paid for the whole set on one job. I find these very useful. And if you go to Harbor Freight they have the cheapest prices (and all are made by Gearwrench)

With the gear wrenches, I'd just get a set of shorties, and pivoting head long ones. The ones with the reversing lever are better since they have a flange to keep it on the bolt/nut.

Oh wow, You'll be spending lots of $$$. I've been collecting/accumulating tools for 30 yrs. You never get everything you need but eventually you get enough to do most jobs. I used to buy a lot of Snap on and craftsman tools. Lately, I just go to Orieleys or autozone and buy their lifetime warrenty sockets and stuff. Start out with a good set of screw drivers, get some good deep well and shallow well sockets and an extension assortment, up to 3 feet long. You'll also need a couple of sets of Torx wrenches too. Good luck and be careful as you develop your skill and knowledge. You'll make mistakes, but try to limit them to small ones

Easy to replace, Decent tools for the garage. Now the specialized tools I usually go the generic route HOWEVER you get what you pay for

The best tools for the money are Craftsman. Snap On makes the best hand tools there are but for the backyard warrior they are overkill. I would suggest a set of Snap On screwdrivers though and a set fo flank drive plus wrenches in metric if you can afford them. Gearwrenches are made by Danaher but they are not all gearwrenchesare made by Danaher. These are great however they are not inteded for breaking bolts loose. You will still want a set of good wrenches. I would start with the bigest Craftsman set you can afford comfortably and add to it. A GOOD 1/2 cordless impact is my personal favorite tool. That is another item Snappy has that can't be beat.
