I have checked everywhere, read the Audio FAQ etc but cannot figure out how to remove the front bose speaker box. Doorpanel is already removed.

Bad news, you have to remove the window and the aluminum cover. I always wondered if that's why they put them in the kick panels in later years.

How do you remove the metal trim to access the box.

You have to remove the 10 or so 7mm screws, and the 2 10mm bolts on the rear window upper limit. there are clips on the door handle that you have to push forward to release, but you may be able to pull the panel out far enough to get at the window motor assembly (oops, forgot to mention that has to come out too.) 2 10mm bolts on the top and two on the bottom of the door. It takes some manipulation, but it does come apart.

To remove the box from the door, you do not have to remove the window and track.

Remove the 4 screws that hold the box to the door panel, then taks a slim-jim or similar tool and slide it between the box ans the door panel to break the glue/seal that holds the box to the panel.

Once loose, you can angle the box to get it out.

Worked for me.
